To have covid and see family at Christmas

I'm 99% I'm going to test positive for Covid tomorrow, I'm convincing myself I can already see an extremely faint line on an LFT. AIBU to still see family over Xmas? All jabbed to a certain extent, no clinically vulnerable. No one is made to isolate anymore are they? Last Christmas my Mum had it so Christmas was miserable and lonely and we had so much planned for this Christmas Sad

If people's places of work are not going to pay it they are off sick now are they meant to pay their bills ,?p!us there are no.rules etc.how

There's always someone who thinks what about the impact of spreading it to other people is a mic drop, which nearly three years into this is actually amazing. The reality is that where there's a cost to isolating, some people will be priced out of it. This is as true now as it was when there was a legal requirement, regardless of how persuaded some people are by their what abouts.

Your point being? Most of us can work from home or have an employer that makes us isolate.

I disagree that ‘most’ can work from home and ‘most’ have employers that make them isolate. Not my experience at all.

Why has it all become about cost and work? I thought this was about socialising with family?

TrimTheTree · 15/12/2022 22:09

As someone who is still being careful with any illness, even I would say let your family know, test the few days before you go. If you feel well and negative then there’s nothing to decode and if still ill then if you are the kind of person who wants to go out when I’ll and infect others then your behaviour will be the same and your family will be happy with this, if you feel well then go as you normally would. I’d meet up with you at Christmas if you were feeling well and tested negative.

Stay at home and isolate

Most of us have jobs to hold on to🙄🙄

Well yes, but that’s irrelevant to the point being discussed, which is whether to visit relatives not whether to go into work.

@EasterIssland Throat feels like razor blades and can't seem to get warm (no temp, though) but otherwise ok! Thank you Smile fingers crossed it passes quickly and misses the others in my household!
