Offered a job at a lower level, now offered an interview elsewhere

I had an interview at one place just over a week ago, they couldn't offer me the job I initially wanted as they said I didn't have enough experience, but they wanted to offer me another role with possible eventual promotion.

After a couple of days of reflection I decided to accept, even though the salary was low. They started the DBS, references etc.
Now, I've been offered an interview elsewhere for the role i initially went for, and it's also £170 a month more take home pay than the first place.

I know money isn't everything but £170 could be a months' electricity bill, for instance.

I don't know what to do. There's no guarantee I'd get the other job but I've got an interview with them tomorrow.
If I accept, I'd have to pull out of the first job. Luckily I don't have a start date with them yet, and I did provisionally accept the contract but it's only a 1 week notice period initially.
I know it's an inconvenience for them and I wouldn't expect them to hire me again. What would you do?

The second job is also a step up (if I were to get it)

But your new interview doesn't mean a job offer though. You may not get it!

Good luck either way

I've applied for loads of jobs and no offers..usually 100+ applicants for each role and vacancies are sparse.

I'd love a job offer, even if it was a shit one. 😳

Yeah you're right, I may well not.
Thank you!
Sorry to hear that, I hope you get something soon.
I'm applying in the care industry which is usually very short staffed so it's probably only because if that

Do what's best for you. Don't think twice about letting your employer down, they won't think twice about letting you go if they think they can do without you.
