AIBU to not send Christmas cards to anyone this year.
Interested to know what people think.

Are they pointless though?
I have a stepdad (late 80’s) who has been more of a dad to me than my real dad despite not coming into my life until I was an adult.
He would die of embarrassment if I hugged him and said I love you; but you could see the tears in his eyes when he opened a card that said something like best dad ever. It also takes pride of place on the mantle piece.

That's so sweet. Different people express love in different ways.
I also think written word is more moving because it requires more effort.

I like receiving and sending Christmas cards. Some people don't. Either way is fine. I don't expect to get one back from everyone I give one to, that's not what it's about.

I haven't sent cards for quite a few years now. My mum obsesses over it, making sure that every person in her book gets one, even those who never send one back, over 100 cards. Her dining room table looks like a wartime ops room, she's running herself ragged making sure they all get done in time and spending a small fortune which she's increasingly less-able to afford in postage. I just quietly wonder why she's subjecting herself to this annual reign of terror. But a comment like that would not be well received, so I say nothing.

I only send to the elderly relatives and my cousins who I never see but they send to me, so on and on it goes.

Same here plus old friends I never see who aren’t on Facebook. I like to keep up with their news.

I haven't sent a Christmas card for years, anyone I'm close to I just say Happy Christmas, when I speak to them .

I send them, like sending them and like receiving them (as long as they are going to look nice amongst my Christmas decorations). It's an opportunity to send a letter to people I don't keep in touch with regularly.

My sister in law doesn't send them. Posts on social media that they will be making a donation to charity instead. Never seen any evidence of a charitable donation. Would rather they just don't send them and don't say anything.
