Sorry, posting here for traffic as I never seem to get a response in any other topics. Please can anyone advise on how bad the side effects are from the adult flu jab? I have never had one before and am booked in tomorrow but I have a really busy week and I'm worried it will put me out of action for a couple of days. How Ill have you been post jab? Is it just feeling a bit shit but able to crack on, or worse?

Had it every year for ten years and never anything much more than a headache. DH also had ten years and once was v unwell but other nine times nothing.

put it this way, even if you feel unwell briefly you’ll feel a lot less unwell than had you not had it and caught flu .

All vaccines and the like are 100% safe and effective and you should have every single one, and as many times as instructed to. If you don't, or if you ask a question, or show any hesitancy or doubt, you are a stupid anti-vaxxer and a selfish granny killer..........

I had it 9 years on the trot and never had more than a sore arm. Mainly no side effect at all.

Flu jabs are inactivated so they can't give you the flu , any flu like reaction is a coincidence.
I think the nasal spray is active but diluted so you may get a reaction if you have it.

Yeah that's the way I see it. Better than getting flu. Flu is shit.

I get anxious about side effects too OP and have always put it off in the past.

LOL! I've not been instructed to have it, I'm not eligible for a free jab I'm paying to have it done at Boots. Just asking about side effects.

I’ve been having the flu jab for about 10 years. Never had anything worse than a sore arm - also in that time never had flu.

Thanks for all the replies, going to go ahead and cross my fingers!

I've never reacted to flu jabs.
Typhoid is the only jab that's ever made me ill.

Good for you! You will probably feel anxious beforehand, and panicky right afterwards: ride it out! And you'll end the day feeling really proud of yourself.

Good choice!

Ive had a fun few month with SIRVA after my flu jab, the side effect that no one warns you about. I am not anti vax but personally I will never have any sort of jab again.

Sorry to bump up an old ish thread.

Had this jab yesterday. Immediately had shooting pains up my arm - didn't feel 'normal' at all so presumed she'd put it in the wrong place.

By last night, the hearing had gone in my left ear, all under my neck is numb and across under my chin and I've lost movement completely in my left arm. Also got pins and needles everywhere (v bizarre sensation)

Presuming the nurse hit a nerve?! Can't find much online about neck pain and lost hearing!

Little bit concerned...

Have you seen a doctor?

Lindtcat · 12/01/2023 14:39

OP. Go to a&e. As you've lost movement in your arm, I would assume that is an emergency. Don't let anything get worse

Please read up on SIRVA. Shoulder Injury related to vaccine injury.

Make an appointment with your GP also, although I hate to say this they may not take you seriously, There is a FB group where there are hundreds of us with the same problem, I am nearly 5 months in now and still cant feel my fingers.

Best of luck Flowers
