Emergency: Strangers in the snow

I've been watching the foxes out my window on this bright as day night and saw a couple outside the flats opposite. At first I thought they were outside smoking but then realised they had been there an hour.

I spoke to the lady through the window who told me they were locked out. I gave her some jumpers and hot water bottles but now I'm feeling guilty that I should have offered them to come into my flat as they are obviously stuck outside. I think they are basically ringing the bell to the other flats but everyone is asleep.

But could be anyone so I wouldn't feel safe. Am I okay to go to bed without guilt? Argh.

Go to bed, OP. You've done plenty already, this really isn't your issue. Go to sleep :)

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 12/12/2022 00:45

I think you've done your bit. They could go to a hotel or friends/family?

dolor · 12/12/2022 00:46

Unless you can be sure they live in your building, do not let them in.

heartbroken22 · 12/12/2022 00:46

I wouldn't invite strangers in my home u can't trust people being serial killers or murderers or what not. Think you did enough.

TheShellBeach · 12/12/2022 00:47

You could ask them if they need phone numbers for hotels in the area, and taxis, I suppose.

I kind of agree that it wouldn't be safe to let them into your house.

Cw112 · 12/12/2022 00:48

I wouldn't let them in unless I knew them, I think you've done enough. They should be able to contact a locksmith/landlord/relative if they need access.

PawPaworPapaya · 12/12/2022 01:03

I think this is one of those scenarios where you trust your gut. Perhaps there is a reason why you didn't feel comfortable letting them in. Trust yourself.

You were kind to give them some supplies and offer other forms of help. You have done enough.

SeveruslyFrazzled · 12/12/2022 01:03

I don’t think I would have no

TwitchyJerk · 12/12/2022 01:04

Thanks everyone! Sleep well!

Took me a couple of read-throughs to realise "the couple" were people, not foxes😂

I would be more inclined to invite the foxes in, so long as they promised not to have sex. They make far too much noise!
