To think hot tubs are awkward

A friend keeps inviting me round to hers for a meal and evening, I keep making excuses because she wants me to join her and her husband in the hot tub in their garden. I don’t know why but I just find it really awkward. The hot tub is quite small and I just imagine it would feel like sharing a bath with her and her husband😳. I also am not 100% body confident and the thought of wondering around her garden/house in a bikini also makes me cringe (plus it’s really bloody cold at the moment!)…🫣

Am I being unreasonable to feel awkward about this? If I do go is there any hot tub etiquette I should know about?

See I love to relax in a hot tub with DH, or maybe a couple of female friends (not enough to want to have one at home, mind you) but I'd draw the line at hopping in with a friend AND her Husband. Nope. Hard No.

It is like being in a giant bath!! Our neighbour has one (in her normal, small garden with all our windows facing out towards her) and when she goes in it you can see her clear as day and it's like she's in a very noisy bath. I would be embarrassed 😂. Honestly every time someone says a couple asked them to join them in their hot tub I always think it's a sex thing 🤷‍♀️. So maybe they want to bang you lol.

My friend lives at the end of a new build street. It's shaped like a crescent.

One of her neighbours built some decking and placed a hot tub in their FRONT garden in front of of their living room windows. Often when my friend is going to work/returning home they wave over at her from the hot tub. Makes me laugh just thinking about it!

I love a hot tub but only with DP or a larger group of friends. Third wheeling with a couple feels weird even to me!
