I have been having some gastric issues mostly bloating, nausea diarrhoea vomiting.
So couple of nights ago I went all funny after finishing my tea and when I stood up I was dizzy and swaying about I became really unwell my dp was desperately holding onto me and I dropped to the floor and he had to help me up he called 999 and they asked me alot of questions which I struggled with as I was ready to pass out. The call operator then said I don't need an ambulance but somebody will call within the hour.
During this time I passed out several times and lost control of my bowels sorry tmi they called back whilst I had passed out on the toilet to start asking the same questions as before and my dp was pleading with them to just send an ambulance but they refused.
My dp had to break into the bathroom as I had passed out on the toilet and he called a relative who took us to the hospital.
Blood tests showed infection and my blood pressure was 45 over 60 which gradually improved they then sent me home because I'm having a colonoscopy tomorrow.
Dp wants to complain what you think pls.

No point complaining because nothing will change and no one will care - it'd just be a flat-out waste of your time. The NHS (from the very top to the very bottom) have two kinds of people: those who care about patients but have no power to change anything and; those who don't give a shit and have all the power. It doesn't matter which kind of person your complaint gets through to, nothing will change.

As an aside, please don't lock your bathroom door when you're feeling unwell like this - but I'm sure you know that now.

I'm sorry this happened, it's really scary when you feel like you need help that you're not able to access. Good luck with your colonoscopy.

Sorry you’ve gone through that OP, sounds awful. To be honest I don’t think it’s worth complaining about, it’s unlikely to go anywhere or change how ambulances are distributed. If they had agreed to send an ambulance you would have likely waited hours for one to arrive anyway and on this occasion you were able to make your own way there (not saying it’s right you needed to do that but unfortunately that’s how it is at the moment)

Thedoglovesmemore · 11/12/2022 19:08

Complain about what?
do you not read the news?

ambulances are under extreme pressure. They are struggling to get to people having strokes and heart attacks or those who have had a cardiac arrest.

You have transport and someone to be with you so you got to hospital. You got seen. You have a follow up and in fact you didn’t even need admitting so truthfully you weren’t critically ill.

what exactly are you complaining about?

Itsrainingatlast · 11/12/2022 19:10

Yes. Complain to your MP about how the Tories have systematically destroyed the NHS in the 12 years they have been in power.

We need to stop blaming the NHS for this shitshow that the government has created.

StoneofDestiny · 11/12/2022 19:13

Complain in the strongest terms to the Prime Minister. Twelve years of Tories destroying the NHS makes you just another statistic that is common place.

Zanatdy · 11/12/2022 19:17

There’s not a lot to complain about, they went from the symptoms and decided it wasn’t top rated. Presumably people having heart attacks were ahead of you OP. It’s always better to get to A&E yourself in this situation if you can, far quicker. Hope you’re on the mend soon, very scary.

ConsuelaHammock · 11/12/2022 19:19

I don’t think it was unreasonable to make your own way to hospital. Not a good idea to lock the bathroom door if feeling unwell either.

PeekAtYou · 11/12/2022 19:20

Complaining sadly won't help. Vote for people who will resource the health service properly.

I'm really sorry that the emergency services weren't available when you needed them. There's so many stories of people in pain waiting for hours on end in cold and rain and members of the the public unable to move them for fear of making injuries worse 😞

Anotherproblem · 11/12/2022 19:23

Just 3 years ago I called for an ambulance and I got one just like that I was flabbergasted at this new procedure

Dp doesn't drive and I wasn't capable not that it probably makes much difference.

unpocamasporfavor · 11/12/2022 19:24

It sounds scary for you all, but you didn't need paramedic input or an urgent response, so in blunt terms you needed to get yourself to A&E.

At moment elderly people who have fallen and broken bones are waiting 12hrs for an ambulance. You would have been triaged as being is less need that someone like that so if they had have agreed to send an ambulance god knows how long you'd have waited for it.

As others have said, blame the tories for 12 years of systematic underfunding. I hope you're feeling better soon.

It sounds like paramedics couldn't have done much for you and would have just had to ferry you to the hospital. I think paramedics are prioritising patients who need immediate treating at home like a heart attach etc. Why didn't you get a taxi or call someone to take you to a&e?

Anotherproblem · 11/12/2022 19:35

Well they can't tell what's wrong with somebody for sure without physically seeing them in person so no wonder people are misdiagnosed and end up dying.

OP posts:
Unforgettablefire · 11/12/2022 19:35

They go on what is more urgent as pp have said, imagine a child choking, a car crash victim in the road, or a relative in cardiac arrest surely you'd want them seen before someone that's feeling faint and passing out? It's dire but we all know the state of the nhs and they have to prioritise.
I hope you're better soon.

So everybody should get an ambulance no matter what symptoms they have?

Anotherproblem · 11/12/2022 19:38

My dp had trouble moving me I was limp and unresponsive and it was a difficult nightmare situation with me having had lost control of motions as well. I have never felt so ill in my life and really thought I was on my way out and so did my dp.

There's still going to be more urgent cases op. You were breathing, moving and talking there's people out there a lot worse off.

Lemonlady22 · 11/12/2022 19:42

Your blood pressure could not have been 45 over. 60….145/60 maybe , 45/60 is impossible. Did you have it fluids?

Anotherproblem · 11/12/2022 19:43

Lemonlady22
It was most definitely 45 over 60

OP posts:
Anotherproblem · 11/12/2022 19:45

Yes I was breathing but I didn't and I still don't know why this happened I was scared I didn't know if what was happening was life threatening or not I've never ever experienced anything like this in all my life.

I’m medically trained 45/60 is impossible, 60/45 you would have been near to death, but they sent you home? Did you read that on a machine? if so it was faulty.

Vinvertebrate · 11/12/2022 19:47

You need a colonoscopy and you’re having one. Nothing to complain about. And I’m no Thursday night clapper either.

Gently, because you're not well, it can't be - your blood would be flowing backwards. Do you mean 60 over 45? The bigger number is always on top because the top number is the pressure when your heart pumps and the bottom number is the pressure when your heart is in-between pumps. If you had higher pressure when your heart in-between pumps then your blood simply wouldn't move around your body at all - it's a physical impossibility.

Anotherproblem · 11/12/2022 19:48

They sent me home as it improved with rest to 103 over 65
