To go to bed as it is cold

Yesterday we spent £13 heating the house ( 3 bed semi to 17 degrees). I want to keep my bill to £250 pcm with electric too which was another few pounds.

I am in bed with the electric blanket as it 12 degrees in the hall and kitchen a bit warmer in living room but not much.

Oh says I should just put it on and it's too early to go to bed. Fine for him working in the box room with his hot PC screens.

Bed is so toast. Feels lazy though as its not even 4.30. Oh well.

Our living room is 13.7 but bedroom is 16.4 so I'm upstairs sitting on the bed. Heating has been on and off most of the day as set at about 15. Thermals and dressing gowns here. Though teen DS wandering around in bare feet...
Snowing quite heavily here!

I went to bed at 8pm on Friday.
I didn’t think it was as cold today. Mind you I have had the oven on.

DH and I spent the winters of 2007-2010 on a barge with only a log burner for heat (which took an hour at least to warm up when we got home from work). It was easier just to go straight to bed with a hot water bottle, hats and dressing gowns on when it was really cold and then read, watch films, etc all in bed. We got trapped inside by frozen hatches a few times and once shorted the electrics trying to melt the hatches open with a hairdryer!

The other alternative is to do vigorous exercise so you really warm up, like a home workout video or something, take a hot shower, and then go to bed later.

Or go to the pub Grin

I feel so sluggish, fat and frumpy when I wear tons of layers. I've been moving about all day but still had to heat the house, I can feel the cold from the walls. I had a heart attack at 3pm when I saw this luxury today cost me £16. It's now off. I hate being cold and I'm always cold.

Bloody dehumidifier broke as well, that used to create some heat in a room without radiator.

We gave in today and put the heating on. DP is in bed though.

Here in the NW its been between -4 and 4 for the last week with the same forecast for next week too. It really is too cold to not have the heating on, although the smart meter gives me a heart attached every time I watch it. It's hopefully going to warm up slightly after that OP but I really think if you can afford it its best putting the heating on with these persistent low temperatures.

I vote go for it. Warm up and relax in there. I’m at work, then going to inlaws for dinner and then getting in bed when we get home
