To ask if there are any decent non alcoholic wines?

I've tried a few and just not found anything nice. I want something that I can drink after I've had a glass of the real stuff but don't want a hangover the next day. Don't want more than one or two glasses of the real stuff and hate switching to diet coke or water after.

I had high hopes of the Naughty bottle at £9.00 but after one glass it was just way too sweet.

Any suggestions?!

I quite like the Nosecco ones, the freixnet zero one is nice as well. (Both are sparkling)
There’s a Sauvignon zero made by (I think) mcguigans which was really nice, very wine like. However, I’ve had 2 bottles on different occasions and both tasted completely different, I don’t know why.
I agree about the sweet, plus they need to be very cold.

I recently tried Eisberg and really liked it, especially the Pinot and Prosecco versions.

IntentionalError · 10/12/2022 16:09

I haven’t tried any non-alcoholic wines that I would want to drink again, but non-alcoholic beers have improved enormously. Brewdog Punk AF & Nanny State, Erdinger Alkoholfrei & Adnams Ghost Ship are all perfectly drinkable.

ThreeblackCats · 10/12/2022 16:12

Short answer. No.
Drink Shloer. Or J2o. Or lime n soda. Or alcohol free gin n tonic.

Fiddledeedeeee · 10/12/2022 16:14

If there are, I haven’t found one!!

as pp says some of the beers are nice and the 0% mixed berries koppaberg is really nice.

I’ve taken to making non alcoholic cocktails more than anything else though with a 0-% fancy cordial of some sort

Purplecatshopaholic · 10/12/2022 16:16

I have yet to find a decent AF dry white still wine. I live in hope! I agree that AF beers have improved hugely recently - I like Erdinger. Also AF fizzy is pretty good, eg nosecco or Sainsburys fizzy white.

I don’t think wine really works as a non alcoholic drink.

I find some of the non alcoholic spirits like Seedlip and tonic nice. Or no/ low alcohol beers are good.

Letsnotargue · 10/12/2022 16:18

We had a low-alcohol (<0.5%) sparkling Sauvignon Blanc from Asda. It was £3 and surprisingly nice!

EvilRingahBitch · 10/12/2022 16:19

I like to switch to fruit/spice/herb teas in the evening after a glass of wine. Especially in this weather it gives me a "winding down" feeling.

theonlygirl · 10/12/2022 16:20

nope.
But there are so many really, really good non-alcoholic beers. Corona is my particular favourite, DH loves the Peroni.

Mistymountain · 10/12/2022 16:20

I like the Nosecco sparkling wines too. I only buy the sparkling non alcoholic wines.

SnitterBug · 10/12/2022 16:20

To be honest I think non alcoholic drinks are basically just pop . Better off just having soft drinks and cheaper .

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/12/2022 16:22

I also bought a trial case of those trip drinks, they had some nice flavours and weren’t trying to be non alcoholic wine, they are just an alternative to fizzy sweet pop

knackeredmu · 10/12/2022 16:25

The non alcoholic martini with tonic makes a passable aperol spritz / negroni style drink - not wine but not beer or cider - feels like a proper drink
Kombucha based wines have been vile
In my experience

Edinlassy · 10/12/2022 16:27

Not found a wine but Whitley neil just brought out a delicious non alc raspberry gin that is lovely

KimberleyClark · 10/12/2022 16:28

No. The brewing industry have cracked alcohol free beer, but the secret of good AF wine has yet to be discovered.

Nat6999 · 10/12/2022 16:37

I like the McGuigan Rose, it is very close to a Zinfandel.

This.

Never yet tried a non alcoholic wine that's much better than having a glass of shloer!

Alcohol free beers are a big think and have grown in popularity- as that's happened the quality has grown loads.

flowerycurtain · 10/12/2022 17:12

Thank you all. I don't like beer so maybe the way forward is a gin and tonic type drink.

I've never tasted a decent one. To be honest if I wasn't drinking alcohol I'd prefer a coke. My friend doesn't drink and she will often have tonic water with ice and lemon in a gin glass or a mocktail.

SometimesMaybe · 10/12/2022 17:18

I’ve not found a decent one - especially if you are going to drink it after a glass of the proper stuff!
AF Moreti and Heineken are really good but as you don’t like beer I would have a tonic water with lots of lime and ice (again not found a AF gin that I like either).

Asterope · 10/12/2022 17:20

Best I've found is Oddbird, particularly the sparkling

JustAnotherSod · 10/12/2022 17:27

I would recommend Jukes Cordialities - we had the no 6 and no 1 at a fancy restaurant earlier this year and really enjoyed them - complex and deep flavours and really worked well with a meal.

For a bit of sparkling fizz I'd recommend Copenhagen Sparkling Tea - either the Jasmine or the Pink are lovely, although we're going to try the new one Vinter this year.

ProfYaffle · 10/12/2022 17:49

Have a look at Shrubs. They're a non alcoholic brewed drink, something akin to a flavoured vinegar which sounds horrible but they're not! The vinegar gives it a dry flavour, bit like Kombucha. Nonsuch Shrubs do concentrated syrups which you drink with a mixer. Fevertree tonics go really well with them. There's also Shrb which are ready to drink shrubs. Both nice, complex flavours which make a grown up evening drink.
