What to do about this Vinted order?

Ordered my daughter a new hoodie on Vinted. It was a brand I'd never heard of. After a few days I tried to check the tracking information but couldn't. A 'Something went wrong/no content found' message came up. Same when I tried to access the item and transaction. I messaged the seller and enquired as to the item's whereabouts. He said it was on his way. I then saw, through clicking on his profile, that he had been blocked from the app. Thinking that this was all very suss, I contacted Vinted who refunded me IMMEDIATELY without quibble. This never usually happens. I then received a message from the seller asking if I'd cancelled. How he's able to message me on the platform when blocked is anyone's guess Confused
What I should have done at that point is to block him. However a couple of days later, the item did indeed arrive. I'm thinking it's probably a fake. I've just heard from him asking me to let Vinted know when it arrives, as otherwise he stands to lose a lot of money. He claims that he isn't blocked but is simply loading some new material (so going through some sort of review, I don't know?).
I feel slightly uneasy as this guy knows my name and address.
What to do? Block him (a nagging feeling is telling me 'but what if he's genuine and you're ripping him off?') or delete my account and start another?
Looking closer at this particular brand on Vinted, there does seem to be a few dodgy accounts selling it on there. No reviews, nonsense usernames, exact same postage cost across several accounts, etc. I had picked my seller because he had 20+ positive reviews.
Advice please?

Send the item back with tracked delivery?

steff13 · 10/12/2022 04:54

I'd let vinted know the item arrived, if it has.

RNBrie · 10/12/2022 05:25

You have your money and the item. You can only keep one. Decide which you want and arrange to return the other to the seller. If you keep both you're as dishonest as the seller sounds like!

amylou8 · 10/12/2022 05:28

You've got your order. You either need to repay if you want to keep it or return it.

GoAgainstNicki · 10/12/2022 05:29

You’ve got what you ordered so you know what you need to do. I personally think you should have done research on the brand if it was something you’d never heard of. If you think it’s fake and don’t want it then send it back

LeopardPrintHo · 10/12/2022 05:32

Contact Vinted and let them know

Yep. It's this simple.

JofraArchersFastestBall · 10/12/2022 06:17

When I had an item refunded by Vinted, but it eventually turned up I paid the seller via pay pal as I couldn't see how to do it within the site.

You need to decide if you're happy with the item. If you are, pay the seller. Perhaps they've had a few issues with postage (who hasn't at this time of year?) and their account has been suspended? If you don't want the jumper, send it back. You can't justify keeping the item and not paying!

mothertrucking · 10/12/2022 06:23

Is the hoodie an Essentials one? My teen has one on his list I hadnt heard of them either.

Agree with others return the item or the hoodie

rahlikeatiger · 10/12/2022 06:31

If you let vinted know they sort out how you can pay, I had this happen on an item that took ages to deliver.

AriettyHomily · 10/12/2022 06:36

You don't get to keep the item and the money.

StoneofDestiny · 10/12/2022 06:44

Never had a problem on Vinted but yes, tell Vinted what one you want to keep.

Beautiful3 · 10/12/2022 07:01

You can't have both the money and the hoodie. It's unfair as he'll lose money. Contact vented and tell them the item did arrive, and pay him.

Allsnotwell · 10/12/2022 07:05

Look up the brands tell tale markers, then you’ll know of it’s fake or not. Then make a decision to keep it or not.

harrassedmumto3 · 10/12/2022 08:14

Thanks everyone. I had absolutely no interest in keeping the item anyway, and it's in a drawer at home. It is absolutely tiny and a fake. I have messaged the seller to ask for his address to send it back. It's the fairest thing I can do in the circumstances.

If its a fake then I wouldn't do anything at all. If he wants it back, then he can pay for postage.

OtterInABox · 11/12/2022 12:42

God why bother? He's sent you fake goods and vinted have refunded you.

Just block him
