Parcel deliveries to flats

I have moved into a flat from a house, and am now experiencing parcels being delivered and just dumped in the communal landing area. We have an intercom system, so I would expect to be buzzed so I can at least meet them downstairs as I appreciate they are on tight schedules so do not have the time to come up all the way to the first floor.

Am I being unreasonable for expecting them to let me know where they are leaving the parcel, personally I think it is quite lazy so not even spend 20 seconds to buzz my flat. I used to be a delivery driver so know it is time constrained, but there is also an element of customer service especially when there is a chance of theft by leaving it in a communal area.

If I’m home and they buzz, even then they buzz me to be let in and leave it on the stairs. So now I always go on the intercom first and ask them to put in lift to the 3rd floor and they seem happy to do that. Then I just wait for the lift and up comes my package.

We have a receptionist. But if it's the weekend generally they do buzz you. If you don't answer they'll sometimes try and redeliver the next day or leave it on your doormat or downstairs at reception. Does vary.

Fortunately I've never had any go missing. I seem to live in a building where people aren't light-fingered.

That said, once the Amazon dude left c 20 parcels at reception, visible from the street, some non resident got in as the front door was left ajar, opened all the packages, took the contents and left the ripped open boxes.

I have no issue with that, if they buzz my flat to let me know. What they do is just follow someone in and leave the parcels in the communal area without telling people.
