This isn't a AIBU but it's maybe the most used category.
I have a pair of glasses I love and want to get the lenses changed, any recommendations of places that do this?

I've never come across an optician that won't do this unless the frames are in poor condition.

I had a pair where the lenses were replaced that many times the threaded holes just couldn't hold the screws any more and they needed replacing. Most frames have pop in and out lenses now so it's even easier.

Most independent opticians will do, Boots, Specsavers unless it's a very old plastic frame as the plastic degrades over time.

Everywhere does it. You might have to pay a reglazing fee on top of the actual lenses.

Hello - did boots reglaze your frames? If so how much?

The prices to replace a lens in a frame are ridiculous. I had a real grump at Specsavers that it worked out cheaper to re-buy the same two frames on their 2for1 offer, than to replace the lenses in mine. There should be more of an incentive to re-use your current frame.

Boots quoted about £180 for single vision transition replacement lenses in glasses they originally supplied - I would try Specsavers or online.

Lensology are great for single vision lenses. They used to be called Reglaze my glasses. So cheap! They're about £35 for lenses. Buy the Gucci or whatever frames off eBay (Respectacles is a wonderful seller) and then you just contact Lensology for a box and send it back with your prescription. They're very good on the phone too if you want advice about tint etc. They're quick too!

It seems that boots and specksavers are too expensive.

OP- you’ve probably already done it now but take it to any high street optician. Providing the material of the frame is ok (some are too fragile and can’t be heated) and that the frame is in good condition, they should do it.

RE comments about reglaze costs- It often costs more to regrade your own glasses because it takes a lot more work, time and effort to do it. Not all frames respond to heat and glazing the same way and it takes significantly longer to do it. You also have to be much more careful as it’s the persons own frame and you can’t just replace and order it from the supplier if it breaks. Basically, it’s a more labour intensive job. Therefore it costs more. The lenses also still cost money to order in, so of course you still have to be a reglaze fee for it
