Is this a squint? Double vision?

I’ve started getting double vision when I’m reading things. It’s fine when I’m looking at things far away. It probably started a year ago on and off and it’s suddenly got worse recently. It’s still on and off but it’s happening a lot more often now.

I just took a photograph of my eyes- I was looking at my phone camera lens as if I was reading it close up to me. The camera lens was right in the centre between my eyes and wasn’t closer to one side than the other. I can’t decide if I’m squinting or not. I was getting double vision when I took the photo but it doesn’t look particularly squint in the photograph so I’m not sure anymore. Everything looks very clear and I don’t need glasses- it’s as if whatever I’m reading just turns into 2 pictures. I can actually pick which picture I want to look at and can switch between the 2 pictures- both are clear but it’s annoying having double vision.

anyone have any experience or knowledge about this? Many thanks.

(PS ignore the fake Instagram filter- my eyes are not usually so bluey!)

And in case it makes a difference or is of any relevance, when I get double vision and close my left eye and use my right eye, I can see the picture on the left. And when I use my left eye, I can see the picture on the right.

I would go for an eye test and ask the optician.

They can refer you on to a ophthalmologist at the hospital for further investigations if needed.

Yes you’re right, I will absolutely do that. I’ll phone tomorrow and book an appointment.

I just thought I would post on here in case anyone has any knowledge or experience about this, or if anyone would tell from the photo if I am squinting or not as I’ve looked at it so many times I can’t tell myself now!

The light reflections are in a different place in each eye so highly likely you are squinting. Take photo with you to optician

It’s easy to drive yourself mad looking at a photo!

I hope you get someone along on here in a bit who has some more experience.

absolutely- the more I look at the photograph the less sure I become about whether it’s a squint or not!
