AIBU to save bacon from being used by sprouts

Bacon's Christmas home is around another meat. Or at worst by itself.

It is NOT bacon's job to disguise the taste of sprouts. Bacon is not responsible for sprouts and should not be used this way. "Oh you don't like sprouts, that's simply because you haven't fried them with bacon and......"

Don't listen to the sprout industry that is all too prevalent on MN and many other places. Let bacon do what it was born to do.

Bacon in a sandwich, with sprouts, wrapped around pigs, on turkey. Just about everything is improved with bacon. For that reason sprouts and bacon should stay together.

I par boil my (fresh never frozen) sprouts in the bacon water and then stir fry them in garlic and butter and then add them to the bacon - well the ham as I am in Ireland but yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum the best part of any dinner.

In my defence I do love a raw sprout salad - but have just started buying real bacon from a butcher and it is unbelievably tasty fab texture and just right amount of ‘smoke’ - I can’t wait to make my devils on horseback with it - nectar ☘️👍🏿

No, I love them together. Sprouts without bacon are unpalatable and just wrong.

I’m veggie and even before I was I’d have hated sprouts being ruined with bacon or chestnuts. I love sprouts.

My worst Christmas ever was when SIL decided to cook the sprouts with bacon. I'm vegetarian so it ruined Christmas and probably my relationship with her for eternity. I was incensed, just, how could you?? 🙃

Nah, bacon adds very little to other meat whereas it really elevates vegetables.

I understand your apprehension. Spent years being forced to eat boiled veg 🤮 but roasted sprouts are amazing and deserve recognition.

About 50 years ago I was eating my Christmas dinner, cut a sprout in two and found a worm. Can't face sprouts, don't think I'm going to get over it.

Have managed to get family to back off with the sprout pushing since I discovered I'm a supertaster so have more bitter receptors and find them really unpleasant to eat.
