Dog suddenly hyper but anxious seeming

Difficult to explain. She’s hyperactive, can’t settle, suddenly likes laying on the cold floor, seems desperate to go for a walk and when I take her she’s acting crazy, dragging me around, zig zagging from side to side, pulling like a steam train, hyper vigilant, almost anxious … comes home and sleeps all afternoon. This is a dog that was previously loose lead trained. This behaviour has been going on for around a week now. Hot ears.

What did your vet suggest?

She’s not poorly so hasn’t been to the vet (yet)

I was seeing how it pans out, I was hoping it was just a blip in behaviour but it’s not getting any better (in fact it’s getting worse)

How old is she and how out of character is this? There are a lot of foxes who are pretty vocal around us and that definitely sets our boy off. Is she coming into season? If still a mystery get her checked over in case she’s in pain.

It sounds like she’s in pain and needs a vet visit. Please take her to be checked over.

She’s 3. When she was younger this would be normal behaviour but not now, it’s like she’s never been trained. Getting to the point where she’s almost impossible to walk

not due in season

What makes you think she’s in pain? (Not arguing with you, genuinely interested). I will get a vet visit sorted though in this case

The not settling and then walking like a steam train as well as the hot ears. With it being such an extreme change in behaviour I’d be concerned something is triggering it that you’re not able to see or know what’s happening. Just think it’s better to rule out any pain and then go from there.

I do hope you find out what’s causing the extreme behaviour though.

She needs to see a vet as soon as .
