His fur there is just so soft. And warm and smells all doggy and lovely. I just love him so much.
DP is looking at me like I've taken leave of my senses.

YANBU!!!!!!!!

My lovely one. She likes to doze off with her head on my shoulder before finding a comfy place at the bottom of the bed. She smells of biscuits and fresh air.

What a lovely thread, all the dogs pictured are adorable!

seahorsegrass · 07/12/2022 21:18

Warm toast and biscuits that as close as I can describe as I inhale my dogs smell from her soft fluffy head. I'm lucky as I take her to work with me everyday, a full on cuddle and chill session smelling the top her head is just perfection.

BayCityTrollers · 07/12/2022 21:27

I do it with my cat. She’s not a lap cat but likes to sit on the landing at the top of the stairs where she can hear everyone in the house and I stand on the stairs and stroke behind her ears and kiss her head, she smells amazing. She’s long haired so it’s fur you can bury your head in. She has the softest fur behind her ears, she is adorable and she purrs away. She’s just such a comfort😻

CathyorClaire · 07/12/2022 21:30

Entirely reasonable.

I kiss the top of the serial killer's cat's head so merely sniffing a blameless dog pales.

Ilovemyborkydog · 07/12/2022 21:37

Top of dog's head smell is like no other. Absolutely love it. My greyhound is snoozing next to me now, but unfortunately it's his arse that he's got pointed at me, not his head. The aroma that produces is less appealing.

Love dogs, they make my heart sing.

Moro93 · 07/12/2022 23:28

YANBU. I also love smelling and nuzzling the top of my dog’s head and ears. My kids also cuddle and sniff her. Also, the musty popcorn paws, it’s comforting. Who cares if it’s bacteria!

I do have to admit that sucking on ears and staring at their bums is a step too far for me though 😂

Pic of my girl, with added drool because we were eating food!

Not unreasonable. My dogs paws smell like popcorn :)

Such a handsome boy ❤

This x1 million. What a beautiful chap!

Pythonese · 08/12/2022 01:10

God no. They either smell strongly of fox shit or dog cleaning stuff.

cutiemcsweetie · 08/12/2022 01:22

You must not have a sharpei, mine used to smell like an orange dorito 😂

Horses smell lovely too.

Yes, like grass and sunshine! And our dogs' heads smelled of pine needles and snow.

Oh to have them all back for a day…

FishBowlSwimmer · 08/12/2022 08:27

YANBU, nothing better than a head snuggle/sniff with my curly cutie. She's a constant source of comfort to me.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 08/12/2022 08:45

I used to do that when we still had her, RIP 😥
And kiss it. Often.

dnac · 08/12/2022 09:32

I’m ashamed to say that I even don’t mind a fishy breath lick of the face from time to time from my doggy. It’s the sheer exuberance when they do that and wishing to bestow affection on you plus the complete lack of self awareness that their breath is actually v dodgy that fills me with joy.

fortifiedwithtea · 08/12/2022 09:53

@Idontdoyoga boxer ears are the best. We have a brindle girl

TrentCrimm · 08/12/2022 21:08

Dogs are ace.

When you walk into a room and hear that whump whump whumph of a tail starting to wag...gladdens my soul.

Moro93 · 08/12/2022 21:14

@TrentCrimm We have a Lab, her tail clears the coffee table 😂

I have a greyhound too. They are just a big sack of elbows that smell of biscuits, and have the most velvetly heads and ears... but their arse could put you in A&E.

Springer here- same 😂

But there's also that first moment, when she's half asleep and senses me approaching. And nothing moves except one eyelid and the tail ❤️

We have a puppy now and he's starting to do it too 😍

GuyFawkesDay · 08/12/2022 21:21

The dunka dunka sound of a waggy tail at 6am has cured me of my grumpy wake ups.

The daft sod is SO happy to be awake and with his hoomans, you can't fail to smile. Love him!

Moro93 · 08/12/2022 21:31

@TrentCrimm I know exactly what you mean, even if she’s lying sleeping next to me I can put one hand on her or move and her tail starts to wag sleepily ❤️

When she’s excited it’s a weapon, it sounds like she’s playing drums sometimes with it whacking off everything 😂

TrentCrimm · 08/12/2022 21:40

@Moro93 yes exactly that!

I know what you mean about the weapon, when she's excited, a hit from our spaniel's tail is like being lashed by a whip 🤣

AlfieandAnnieRose · 08/12/2022 21:45

Yes, I love that smell. My schnauzer had to be pts last week and one of the things I miss is just what you’ve described. That warm doggy smell is the best, and the soft fur around her neck behind her ears. I miss her a lot.
