Sorry I know this isn't the place for diagnosis but not remotely sure where to go with this one.

Ds11 has a pea sized lump under the skin along his jaw bone. It isn't in his mouth and he can't feel it from inside his mouth. It feels as if it's between the skin and the jawbone and it moves around under the skin. It's not causing him any pain or difficulties. He said he only noticed it this week when he was sat with his hand against his face.

I'm presuming this needs to be checked out but not urgently? I'm hoping it will just be a cyst or something that may disperse on its own. Anyone else have any ideas?

Google Pleomorphic adenoma, could possibly be this. Benign lump that can be removed. It's not serious.

Ask the GP for a referral.

I noticed this when I was 13 and went to the doctor. He told me off for coming to see him rather than a dentist and then said it’s just cartilage and perfectly normal. I’m 47 now and can still move them around on each side of my jaw.

Thank you both I have quite bad health anxiety and things like lumps and bumps always freak me out :/

Could just be a swollen lymph node. I had this earlier this year and was referred for a scan just in case, but by then it had disappeared again. I was told it had probably swollen in reaction to some infection or virus.

I did think lymph node initially but it's more on his jaw line than in the lymph node area. And it's a singular pea sized lump rather than a swelling. It's really weird.

I had one of those removed from my jaw 30 years ago or so as a young adult. Was a drama free day surgery (and I had an out of body experience recovering from the anaesthetic which was cool)
