Uber Eats disaster!

DS has been unwell and his sleep pattern has been all over the place! Last night he stayed awake til 12am so me and DH decided to order Uber eats desert.

I decided to try out a new place, much to my regret.

We ordered a strawbelicious waffle, a lotus biscoff cheesecake and a peanut butter stack.

When the food arrived, the waffle had ONLY strawberrys on it (the thinnest slices) and none of the Nutella or chocolate curls promised in the description. The lotus biscoff cheesecake and peanut butter stack were also partially frozen! Yuck!

Uber eats refunded me £1.95 for the order. I am so very confused as this sounds very unreasonable. The order cost £14 with a voucher code I had.

AIBU for thinking this is unsatisfactory and have you had any terrible Uber eats/deliveroo experiences you would like to share!

What did the restaurant have to say about it? They would have made it, Uber Eats is a delivery platform.

Skinnermarink · 06/12/2022 11:54

But obviously yes UE needed to take more action, however they can’t be arsed a lot of the time, it’s random. Did you supply photos?

My thoughts too

Don't Uber just collect the box and deliver it to you?

Fleabigg · 06/12/2022 11:58

Aren’t most of these dessert places a front for money laundering? I don’t know Uber eats ts & cs but I’ve had a refund in the form of deliveroo credit in the past when a meal clearly wasn’t as described.

Memz1212 · 06/12/2022 11:58

The refunds are deducted from the resteraunt payout. So essentially you pay Uber eats who pay the resteraunt
If there is a problem with an order then Uber Eats deduct this payment from the resteraunt. The resteraunt don't get involved unless they want to as they have not received any payment. I contacted the resteraunt and they told me to discuss this with Uber Eats.

Yes I submitted photos, however it was hard to prove the other deserts were frozen as you could not tell from the image.

This happened to my DP. He ordered a meal via UberEats and received someone else's meal. Because he used a voucher, Uber only refunded him the amount he actually spent. So he lost the use of the voucher, which i found terrible. Just Eat seem better at rectifying situations, but I'm not sure how any of them deal with you just not being happy with the quality / standard of the food

I've only had good experiences with them. Did you phone or email?

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 06/12/2022 12:11

An Uber Eats driver the other day just decided he couldn’t be arsed to deliver to me - or at least that’s what I assume, as he suddenly marked the order as complete, even though I could see he was ten minutes away, and didn’t answer any calls. I got a full refund, but I also had to wait an hour for my lunch as I had to reorder from scratch.

I submitted a complaint via the app. I can't seem to find a working telephone number for Uber Eats, can only find one for Uber Driving only. I'll try and see if I can call them!

@Memz1212 to be fair when I called it was for a McDonald's order so I don't know it is was a dedicated phone line for them, but we ordered 3 meals and they forgot all the drinks and refunded us about a tenner

Are they? The new fireplace shops?

Notanotherone6 · 06/12/2022 12:18

£1.95 seems reasonable considering you were only missing a bit of Nutella. The rest would have defrosted quickly if you'd have left it a few minutes. No issue.

The tyranny of convenience.

It might just be local to me! But yes, they’re the new American sweets shops.

Probably got another order that paid more from a different delivery service.

These shitty companies that hide behind making the delivery staff self employed so they don't even have to pay them close to the min wage should be shut down.

Skinnermarink · 06/12/2022 12:27

£14 for that is nuts anyway. There’s hardly anything worth the money in Uber eats by the time you’ve fractured in delivery/service charge

I didn't include service charge and delivery in the cost as I don't think they would refund for it. It was about £4 more with those charges making it £18.
