I hate mopping the floor

And I haven’t done it in nearly 3 weeks now. We have Karndean which I bet now is filthy from not getting mopped. Luckily we leave outside footwear in the porch and have slippers indoors, but still 3 weeks is a long time but I hate mopping.

I currently use a flat E-cloth mop.

Is there anything that makes mopping better/easier/faster/more enjoyable that doesn’t cost the earth?

I have a cheap spray mop which I find really easy. I have a dog so have to do the kitchen every day.

We use a steam mop. It dries so quickly!

I sweep my Karndean, to get the loose crud and dust, and then use the e-cloth mop with a spritz of diluted Ecover all-purpose cleaner which smells fresh and 'clean'.
If my son's dog has visited I use a tiny drop of disinfectant in the spray.
Seems to least painful and time-consuming way of doing it.

No advice for specific products, but I find vacuuming and mopping are less annoying to do if I put on some good music and listen through wireless headphones. If you make it part of a routine, it's easier, but it does take a while to establish new routines.

We have a weekly cleaner and a robomop/vac in between. I also hate mopping and vacuuming - best money I’ve ever spent! I can vacuum and mop whilst I’m working now!

You need the robots

CeciliaMars · 05/12/2022 16:38

I have a Vorwerk that hoovers and mops at the same time. Pricey but saves me so much time!

Passthecheeseboard · 05/12/2022 16:42

Another vote for the spray mop, it takes the hassle out of mopping

PorridgewithQuark · 05/12/2022 16:51

Do you live alone or only with very small children?

If not then its time to renegotiate chores and you do something you hate less, and someone who doesn't hate mopping mops.

I haven't mopped in several years 🤣

Dc1 hoovers downstairs
Dc2 cleans the wash basins and shower

DC3 hoovers upstairs
I clean toilets and the kitchen except for the floor
DH mops

Littlebutload · 05/12/2022 16:55

Another vote here for a robot that hoovers and mops at the same time. I have one and it is the best thing ever!

Hoppinggreen · 05/12/2022 16:58

I am not a fan of cleaning but I actually quite like using my spray mop

DurhamDurham · 05/12/2022 17:01

We've had all sorts of mops but we always go back to those cheap white stringy ones. You can whizz around using one of those and they're cheap to replace when they get grotty.

KarmaStar · 05/12/2022 17:23

I use a steamer it's brilliant, floors are clean,it's fast and easy to use.

Stressedmum2017 · 05/12/2022 17:29

Get some nice smelling disinfectant/floor cleaner. I'm loving flash French soap at the minute smells so good but there's loads of Christmas ones about at the minute too.
