Not if you're using the self service ticket machine, you need the actual card and booking ref

WeDontNeedToTalkAboutJamie · 05/12/2022 01:26

Last time I picked up prebooked tickets I managed to lose my card that morning. I picked them up from the ticket office by showing my booking reference.

Or when I've picked them up from the machine I've had to 'tap' the card I paid with. If that card is registered on Google pay on your phone you should be able to tap your phone.

Some of my local stations only have self service machines and you need to put your bank card into the reader before you can go any further.
Is there a manned ticket office where you’re collecting from?

There should be but i hope theres not too big of a queue as weve got a train to catch

Whenever I've used self service machines to collect train tickets, they've accepted any bank card to release the tickets, plus the booking reference. (E.g. when work have bought my train tickets on a corporate card, I've used my own card when collecting).

LaughingCat · 05/12/2022 02:18

Yeah, you normally just need any bank card, not that specific bank card - OH and I buy tickets for each other all the time/pick up work bought ones etc

Understand you need to catch a train so maybe get there a lot earlier than you normally would in case you do need to stand in a long queue?

Amanitacae · 05/12/2022 02:19

The machine just uses the name data from your card (it doesn’t have to be the card you booked with). Do you have another card?

parietal · 05/12/2022 03:22

When I forgot my bank card I was able to get the tickets from the counter but I had to show photo ID. So make sure you have one.

Tabitha888 · 05/12/2022 03:24

Just go to the ticket office they can print them out

So has everybody else there Grin

You need to get there early. Admittedly it's been a while but whenever I've collected pre-booked tickets from the machine I've had to physically put a card in, contactless wasn't an option.

Mummieslncorporated · 05/12/2022 09:13

I've not had to collect tickets for quite a few years. The ticket has always been on the app. Is that an option?

eelieza · 05/12/2022 09:15

Ive got tickets on the app but it says I have to collect them
