Sorry posting here for traffic, I've had a power cut and can't find my fuse box anywhere not in any cupboards, not anywhere on the wall, not on the outside of my house and not in the garage. Can you tell me where your fusebox is think I've checked the loft but it's pitch black even with my phone torch

Mine is in the hall.

BCBird · 04/12/2022 14:28

It should be somewhere accessible, downstairs usually.

BatshitandBonkers · 04/12/2022 14:28

Last house cupboard under the stairs
this house in the coat cupboard next to the front door

Malariahilaria · 04/12/2022 14:29

Cupboard under the stairs up high on the wall.

BCBird · 04/12/2022 14:29

Have u got a pantry? Is it anywhere near your stop tap?

Freysimo · 04/12/2022 14:30

Mine is in the garage.

Mummieslncorporated · 04/12/2022 14:30

Mine is in a cupboard in the master bedroom.

Usually they have been in a cupboard/hall next to the front door

Thedoglovesmemore · 04/12/2022 14:30

Theraffarian · 04/12/2022 14:30

High up somewhere e.g. in a hallway or downstairs loo?

Idontdoyoga · 04/12/2022 14:33

When you’ve found it, and mine is high on wall in cloakroom, why not also locate your water stop tap & where your gas main cut off tap is (if you have gas of course.)

The water one is usually under sink so check it’s not too stiff to turn or you can turn water off via the stop outside on pavement. Locate these because …

IF you ever have a flood of water in house it’s important to know how to turn it off!

Omg, what if there is a body in there?!

Biker47 · 04/12/2022 14:35

Typically not far from your electricity meter or where your electric comes into your house from outside (but can be further away), so look close to where you go to read your meter.

Flaunch · 04/12/2022 14:37

Mines in my cellar. How do you not know where it is? How long have you been there? Can’t you ask the landlord?

stuntbubbles · 04/12/2022 14:41

Coat cupboard, hall cupboard, high on the wall by front door, check the loft again with a better torch, ask neighbourhood WhatsApp group where theirs are, show us a floor plan and we’ll play pin the fuse box on the donkey, downstairs loo.

Annoyingnamechangerperson · 04/12/2022 14:46

flaunch In ny defence (not that i really have one) i only moved in a few weeks ago and didnt take any time off work so meeting myself coming back at the moment although it shouldve been the first thing i located.
Apparently it was placed by an idiot so I have a cupboard next to my oven the kind where it has a door but then has a corner inside the cupboard like an L shape.
it was as far round the corner as you could get. I managed to get one hand in there and have got my power working again. Thanks everyone especially people who mentioned cupboards will definitely make ut my mission this afternoon to locate everything I need. Flowers Flowers

Biker47 now the placement makes more sense. It's on the same place as the outside box which happens to be hidden in a cupboard.
Definable time for a cup of tea now I have electricity again

No, now you need a thread which runs to the hundreds of posts and keeps everyone in suspense on what’s in there and ends in an infuriating way because you don’t actually tell us (Victorian safe thread anyone)

Annoyingnamechangerperson · 04/12/2022 14:59

ShirleyPhallus I'm sure the only thing I will find in there will be spiders so I will leave well alone. My life isn't exciting enough for a hidden room Grin

Current house mine is up high built into the kitchen wall.
In previous homes - basement, porch cupboard and under stairs.

Thelnebriati · 04/12/2022 15:08

If you can't see it how will you change the fuses if they trip?
(Promise you'll come back when you find the body)

Annoyingnamechangerperson · 04/12/2022 15:40

Thelnebriati I never thought of that 😂i can't believe someone put it in such a rubbish place.

The body can stay where it is, that's way more mess than I want to deal with on a Sunday afternoon 😁
