Mental illness, speak to your doctor when you return

I’m back and can’t decide if I’m anxious or very unwell. I’m on my period and 42 wondering if this is related as each month my anxiety is ridiculous

I get anxious and blue around my period too OP. And I also feel that sinking gloomy feeling.

Like a PP the moment the plane is in the air, and there's nothing more I can do, I calm down... I tend to listen to (what I like to call) 'death music' on take off and landing (usually the Smashing Pumpkins who were a staple of my youth) - it brings a certain acceptance of the banality of my own tiny existence.

Notably, I'm actually a pretty cheerful person, generally positive and grateful, but the day before and the first of my period... massive emo.

I'm glad you're back safe.

This sounds like a bit of a stealth post IMO OP to show off about your 'lovely holiday'

In case it's real though: It's pointless googling plane crashes, google isn't a mind reader and can't tell you if the plane you're on is going to crash or not. But the likelihood of a crash is, like me, very, very slim.

Don't be so ridiculous. She hasn't boasted about her "lovely holiday " ag all. You are very tiresome and contrarian, and perhaps not half as clever as you think you are.

A bloody sad and miserable world we live in where you're not allowed to talk about lovely things you have.

Fuck me.

OP I found that as I entered the peri menopause, my anxiety around my period was insane. Talk to your GP. There are things they can do.

It's peri-menopause, op. Anxiety or worsening anxiety is a main symptom. My peri started at 40, and my anxiety, which I had never had before, was horrific. HRT took it all away.

sophieable · 05/12/2022 02:05

Its anxiety and I'm exactly the same! I'm on meds for the way I feel.. BUT!!! I can never look forward to holidays just for this reason (boo hoo) literally every time! I always think on the way home I'm destined to die, blimey every one else are like "do you realise how silly you sound" ..... I honestly feel like slapping them 😂😂

girlmom21 · 05/12/2022 04:02

OP if it's a new, anxiety related thing definitely do chat to your GP

DarkChoc33 · 05/12/2022 04:12

Sounds like anxiety OP, which can be linked to our hormones. I found that my own anxiety increased when I started peri menopause. Definitely talk to your GP, try hypnotherapy as well. I hope the anxiety symptoms ease soon for you.

Your post sound like you thought of something funny to say and the needed to find a way to say it. So you accused someone of a stealth post as a vehicle to slip your joke in’. It’s so obvious you done that because it’s beyond a reach to say that was a stealth post/boast. You don’t need to do that to tell your ‘joke’.

It really, really doesn’t. Your post might be a stealth bitchy post though. But it’s failing on the stealth part.

MardyHa · 05/12/2022 04:31

I get this too, it’s anxiety and the thing that helps is knowing that all the other times I had it, the bad thing didn’t happen. It’s a bit like a cloud of impending doom and being somewhere unfamiliar is a real trigger.

Canuck48 · 05/12/2022 04:52

Increased anxiety or other mental health fuckery can happen around your period. It happens due to the hormone fluctuations. Please talk to your dr as there is help for it. Speaking as someone who deals with this and it can be horrific.

Whoopsywoo · 05/12/2022 07:33

Thanks all! Managed the plane ok then came back and had the mother of all panic attacks last night thinking I wouldn’t even wake up! Will be calling doctor today

If we all 'misinterpreted' maybe we're not the problem
