I've been suffering with this on and off for about a year now. Usually they are short spells and over in a day or two max, but this current bout has now lasted for 3 days and isn't easing up! I've done the Epley manoeuvre but the spinning sensation isn't really occurring too much now, but I'm still very off balance in certain head positions ie looking down or up, and generally don't feel steady. Is this normal?

I also don;t know why I keep getting this. I'm only 30! My vit D levels are good. My doctor says it's one of those things you can't control, and there's no cure either, you just have to let it pass. But knowing this'll happen a few times a year for the rest of my life is very hard :( Has anyone ever had this and found a way to deal with it?

Oh and the Epley manoeuvre really does work. The first time the consultant did it I couldn’t believe such a simple technique worked that well

Really sorry you are having a bad time. I was misdiagnosed with BPPV after having chemotherapy as I was having really bad dizzy spells. In the end, I think it was actually caused by sinus infections but we spent ages doing the epley etc. the sinus infection was really low level and only picked up once it spread to my wisdom tooth. If you are getting no where with the treatment for BPPV, I would try some steam inhalations with olbas oil as that should help if it is your sinuses. You can also use a Neti pot to wash out your sinuses with salty water. And then getting a gp to prescribe antibiotics. Good luck! Dizziness Is such a horrible thing to experience. Xx

Mine started after a head injury and comes back if I trip/fall, or if I'm really stressed out or tired

The Epley manoeuvre sorts it out for me every time (well, so far anyway!)

Thought I'd mention that mine initially started when I joined a high impact aerobics class. It took me some time to make the connection then. I'm disabled now (unrelated to bppv) so I don't exactly do that anymore but I still get it from time to time and it's still generally when I've done too much or pushed myself harder than I should have
