Festive sandwich

Disclaimer - major first world problem šŸ˜‚

So, I’m feeling slightly meh after partaking in too much vino last night and I really fancy a festive sandwich so Turkey, bacon, stuffing.. lovely! Apart from the cranberry sauce! I don’t want cranberry sauce on, I think it’s ruins it (and my day) but I want the sandwich so I’ve begrudgingly scrapped it off.

Surely I can’t be alone in finding this annoying, so I think there should be a sauce free option, I’ve seen some shops do Mayo free versions of some sandwiches so why not a cranberry free festive sandwich or AIBU?

(Also if anyone knows of anywhere that can satisfy my need let me know, I’m not talking gourmet made to order just standard supermarket sandwiches, Tesco and M&S only have with sauce options)

The co-op do a boxing day feast sandwich, it has ham, turkey, coleslaw and chutney. So not exactly what you are looking for, but no cranberry sauce and it is very nice.

Cranberry’s the best bit! But as someone who doesn’t like butter I feel your pain.

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 02/12/2022 13:35

How is it 'festive' without the cranberry?

BarbaraofSeville · 02/12/2022 13:37

Subway? Made to order, but as far away from gourmet as you could get.

Toby Carvery do sandwiches I think. Hair of the dog?

I'm disappointed in the festive sandwiches this year.

I normally go for a mixed triple type or M&S do a little afternoon tea type selection with 4 different quarters, but no-where seems to be doing them this year and I like a selection of prawn, turkey, cheese or ham and pickle or similar.

I’m with you. Cranberry sauce is horrid. I don’t mix fruit and savory ever. Bleuggh
I don’t want Jam on turkey.

christmastime11 · 02/12/2022 13:50

It's the best part!!!

ShirleywasaLady · 02/12/2022 13:51

Just get a chicken and bacon one?

Jaybird43 · 02/12/2022 13:52

Same feeling when they smother mayonnaise on sandwiches 🤮

Prinnny · 02/12/2022 13:53

Hmm subway could have been an idea but I think their Turkey is that awful wafer thin stuff..yuk!

Really home made cranberry sauce is lovely. The jar stuff is awful.

MarmiteCoriander · 02/12/2022 13:55

Why not just make your own with the ingredients you want?

Surely its not profitable to have multiple festive sandwich options- no mayo, no butter, no sauce, brown bread on that one etc.

Try a local cafe/sandwich shop?

saltofcelery · 02/12/2022 13:56

I've done a long study on this and Pret A Manger is the best by a country mile. I promise!

Momofmunchkins · 02/12/2022 14:25

Totally with you on this! I cannot stand cranberry, went out for lunch the other day and wanted the festive pizza, had to put up with stuffing with cranberry in it!
