Okay I have a date tomorrow with a guy I really like. Been seeing each other for a couple months but due to conflicting schedules haven't been able to see each other in a couple weeks.

due to go on a date tomorrow - spending all day and evening together for the first time (normally only get a few hours of an evening)

i woke up earlier this week feeling like death. Tired, snotty, coughing. I was hoping with painkillers and sleep I would feel better by the weekend but no luck. I've also woken up today with extreme bloodshot eyes so I look a wreck!

I really don't want to have to cancel this date tomorrow, please tell me there's some quick cure for a cold!

Well surely you’d not want to infect said date?

Jdusuzhsgwuifkf · 02/12/2022 10:23

No I don't want to infect him. Which is why I've asked for quick ways to get better???

Personally I’d begrudgingly cancel as it doesn’t sound like you’ll be in any fit state to enjoy yourself, but if you’re really desperate for a quick fix grated ginger mixed with honey and eaten by the teaspoon every couple of hours helped shift a nasty cold 2 days before my wedding so might be worth a try.

Teaspoon of honey. About half a tsp of powdered ginger; ditto turmeric. Pour on half a cup of boiling water, stir to dissolve honey. Top up with OJ.
Repeat as necessary.

As in ground ginger?

pinksquash13 · 02/12/2022 10:26

Oranges! I swear they help enormously

Geranium1984 · 02/12/2022 10:28

Otrivine nasal spray and cold and flu tablets on the day!

senua · 02/12/2022 10:28

It sounds disgusting but I have all the ingredients and it sounds like it might work - going to try! Thanks!

Thanks everyone! Going to give the honey and ginger a try! I know I'll probably have to cancel but it's worth a shot!

It's not the best taste but it seems to work. Put on your Big Girl knickers and go for it!Grin

I know someone who swears by a clove of raw garlic in a spoon of honey (she takes it daily as a preventative) but I'm guessing this may not be suitable for date day!

Ciri · 02/12/2022 10:52

Have you done a covid test? I felt like that, did a test just in case. Didn’t even bother to check the result and then when I glanced at it later got a shock at the positive result. 34 hours later I’m here in bed feeling sorry for myself feeling like death warmed up

Ciri · 02/12/2022 10:53

24 hours

gemloving · 02/12/2022 10:54

Lemsip but it's best to stay at home and get better

Jdusuzhsgwuifkf · 02/12/2022 11:38

Suggest a Zoom date if all else fails.

Low lighting and make up!

You don't want to give him a bug.
