Manager not helping?

I was off for two weeks and I did a handover, mainly of one project which had been extremely difficult and the supplier has been shit taking weeks to respond and even their ceo ignored emails.

They sent one update when I was away, included my manager and he said “oh I didn’t do anything with it because you were back soon”. I would have still been off for a further 3.5 days (not including the weekend). Where he could at least have taken it to legal for me.

Aibu to be annoyed? It’s things like this that make me want to leave.

To be honest it sounds like they're just being your manager - they were managing the situation and decided it could wait until you got back. If you get any criticism for this particular delay you should raise it with them, otherwise it doesn't sound like much of a problem. They're paid to make decisions like this, and they made one.

As part of the hand over did you explicity state that should they respond the the response should urgently be passed to legal?

If you had not stated that to me, and given they had taken weeks to respond, I would probably have felt it could wait for your return to action it rather than pull myself into the loop unnecessarily.

He was well aware of the issues before hand. I tried to call him to do a handover and he ignored and didn’t return.

The response from them was very clear it needed to go to legal. We have a specific legal meeting to discuss things and he knew I would miss the next one due to annual leave and he could have brought it up then.

I hate it when people jump in on my projects when I'm away instead of just giving a holding email. You're dammed if you do you're dammed if you don't.

But we specifically do hand overs. So the projects continue in our absence.
