I just wanted opinions on something that has been playing on my mind this evening.
Tonight there was an event in my town- Christmas lights on, Santa etc. I had been working so showed up by the time my husband and son had been 15 mins in the queue to meet Santa.
It was freezing cold but lots going on and everyone in good spirits. In front of us, there was a woman and her little girl who was about four, she motioned she was leaving the queue but would be coming back. No problem, kids get bored/ maybe her child needed the toilet etc.She came back after 10 mins and went again. Ok, fed up of waiting, thought she’d got fed up. Another 40 mins on we were nearly at the front of the queue (and obviously it was still freezing, massive queue, all entertaining our kids before meeting Santa), and she appeared from nowhere, put her daughter under the rope and just walked under it herself and put herself at the front of the queue before us (where she had been 50 mins ago!). No acknowledgment or thank you, just slid right in when we were second in line for Santa. I give my husband a look and he did say “nice if we could all do that” but didn’t want to say anything to her. I was ready to tell her to bugger off but didn’t.
Normally I’m good for calling out a CF, and probably would have if I wasn’t surrounded by children outside of Santas grotto, but was she cheeky for expecting her place to be held in the queue for 40/50 mins? Is this an ok thing to do?
YABU - yes it’s ok, it was her place in the queue
YANBU - it’s a cheek!
