I did! Bought our house around three years ago, kitchen wasn't to my taste but functional, plain wooden drawers and cabinets, saving up for a new kitchen so in the mean time I painted it an off white, think country style kitchen, primed it and put all new handles on, looks completely different now and has brightened it up! Got my paint from Wilko's ☺️

Oxo01 · 01/12/2022 20:08

No but I am thinking to do it my kitchen is old now so would be good until I can get a new one.
(Last year had new bathroom and downstais toilet all done and it was sressfull) also just had decorating and new floorining all over except bedrooms so need to wait to pay out for a new kitchen but im a bit scared if painting the kitchen cupbards turns out rubbish and have to live with it until I can get a new one.

Yea we can’t afford a new kitchen at the min. I have painted one of them white and I don’t know if I like it. Anything will look better than how it was though. They are like An off yellow colour currently

@NeedMoMoney
I was reading that wilko paint was good

Ciri · 01/12/2022 20:10

Yes it’s easy. I did my laundry room with little greene and my pantry with frenchic trim paint.

ScottBakula · 01/12/2022 20:11

Yep , I did mine a few years ago, duck egg blue . Make sure you get proper cupboard pain , ( I got mine from wilkos too ) make sure the doors are very very clean or the paint will look terrible ( guess how I know 🙄 )

If uou fancy a real change buy some self adhesive vinyl and cover your worktops too .
It's a bit fiddly but looks great when it's don't, just don't put very hot pans on it

Careylisa · 01/12/2022 20:11

I used a paint brand called frenchic on my kitchen and it's lasted really well. It seems pricey as it comes in a smallish tin, but it goes really far,

Ciri · 01/12/2022 20:12

I should say i deliberately wanted mine to look hand painted (posher! 😆) so if you want an immaculate sprayed look it’s perhaps not as easy.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 01/12/2022 20:14

Yes. I used Rustoleum's Kitchen Cupboard Paint. Very pleased with it.

ItsTheSmallThings · 01/12/2022 20:15

Jumping on as I want to do mine too.

Those of you that used wilko paint, did you use roller or brush, and did you use a finishing coat??

Summersdreaming · 01/12/2022 20:21

Use BIN primer first, after cleaning every drop of grease off them. Use the best paint you can afford, ideally an indoor/outdoor as steam from kettles/pans with deteriorate standard paint over time.

I had my cupboard doors sprayed professionally but primed and painted all the cupboard surrounds/ wood panelling/boiler cupboard (70s kitchen!!) myself with the same paint. It looks 100x better.

How long has your vinyl wrap lasted? I've done mine recently and already melted a patch underneath the slow cooker 😣I've been so careful with pans then totally forgot.

ScottBakula · 01/12/2022 20:25

I used a small foam roller with my wilkos paint.
It's a bit of a pain but take the cupboard doors and drawer fronts off .
It makes them easier to clean and paint .
I didnt use any kind of finishing paint.
They wiped clean with no problems for about 2 years ( then got my kitchen refited )

ScottBakula · 01/12/2022 20:28

@Summersdreaming ohh no ! , I was carefully mine lasted about two years then had my kitchen refitted but it was still in good condition except one small corner that I stained with beetroot

waspishwonder · 01/12/2022 20:29

We used Frenchic paint on ours a couple of years ago and also used their finishing coat. The cupboards still look good and can withstand lots of scrubbing. Best thing about it was that including the brushes it cost about £30 🙂

ditherydotty · 01/12/2022 20:50

Frenchic alfresco is the best kitchen cupboard pain there is, amazing stuff and completely transformed my kitchen

Oh good, luckily the worktop is in 4 parts so I can redo the one section.. finding the time and patience is another matter 😅

Biscuitsplease · 01/12/2022 20:57

I painted our wooden kitchen cupboards with a BIN primer, then F&B eggshell. F&B gets some bad reviews for quality but I loved it and it's still looks newly painted 3 years later.

I used a small foam roller, and Rust-oleum furniture lacquer to finish it off ☺️

ilkleymoorbartat · 02/12/2022 02:17

Did everyone take their doors off to do this?

neerg · 02/12/2022 02:24

Join the frenchic fan forum (official) on Facebook. You will get loads of tips and be inspired. I did mine a couple of years ago and have not regretted it!

Lilyhatesjaz · 02/12/2022 02:34

I painted them using a foam roller, looked ok.
Another option is to buy new doors to go on the existing carcasses, more expensive than painting but much cheaper than a whole new kitchen
