Washing machine shaking whole apartment

Katii · 01/12/2022 19:17

I've just bought a new washing machine and it's vibrating/ shaking so much that it's actually moving out of place and about 2 feet forward.

My dining room table is shaking (open plan) and my sofa! Is this normal?!? How can I stop it?

Have you got a spirit level to check it is level? Ours has feet you can screw in and out .

Luredbyapomegranate · 01/12/2022 19:19

No - Get the engineers out before you fiddle about with it. It will be under warranty

endofthelinefinally · 01/12/2022 19:19

It is uneven. You need to get a spirit level and make sure the feet are all the same height. If you floor isn't level this might mean adjusting one or more of the feet.
Once you have done that, make sure you always load the machine properly/ evenly.

Have you removed the transport bolts?

Katii · 01/12/2022 19:21

Omg thank you!! I've just looked at the packet they gave me and there are feet things there. The company said they'd install the whole thing so it'd be ready for me to use, but they must have forgotten to do this.

I'm not sure how to attach them myself. Do I need to lean the while thing on its side?

Did you take the transport bolts off? I forgot once and thought it was trying to escape over the kitchen floor and down the road.

You don't need an engineer to adjust the feet! It's a basic part of installing the machine.

Transit bolts still in place? If not removed during install will cause the shaking, and can permanently damage the machine. Also some brands need calibration done after install so check the manual . Overloading or under loading for the program can cause this too. New machines are very sensitive to weights and balances. Plus of course it could actually be faulty.

The company installed it for me and turned it on. I'm not sure what transport bolts are but I presume they'd have taken them off.

As you can tell, I'm an idiot 😂😂

If adjusting the feet does nit work try a rubber mat underneath

goinback · 01/12/2022 19:28

Saw update, if company installed get them back out, very unusual to have feet needing attached.

rebeccachoc · 01/12/2022 19:30

Definitely transport bolts need removing, I had this myself and the machine walked 3 foot had to sit on it to hold it down.

goinback · 01/12/2022 19:31

Transit bolts look like this , your installer should have given them to you

Where would they be located?

Oh sorry I thought you meant they're attached to the machine.

Transit bolts for sure!

google your make, and how to remove this

we did this once and the washing machine came towards me throwing me down the stairs, the stopped because it unplugged itself

happy memories …. Horror movie style

LIZS · 01/12/2022 19:35

At the back, holding the drum in place. If it goes round they have probably been removed.

FixTheBone · 01/12/2022 19:36

They come installed in the back of the machine.

They should have removed them and given them to you in case you move house

Katii · 01/12/2022 19:39

Just checked - no transit bolts.

Oh no 🤣 yes, I was surprised to see it halfway across the kitchen when I got off my work call!

Those are covers for the holes where the transit bolts are , you will only see the small nut end on your machine if not taken out , will look like this but depends on your brand
