Kids Xmas presents

How does everyone sort out what the kids are getting for Xmas?
My DH and I have had a bit of a row about it. Basically I have a list which I have been asking him to look at for weeks. He finally did on Monday but didn't agree with a couple if bits - he said it was too much and more money than he wanted to spend. (I am using my bonus money to cover all the kids Xmas presents.)
As a compromise I took of one of the things on each list but I kept on the other one he didn't agree with (it was a board game each).
I then went and ordered all of it. He is pissed off this morning that he feels he hasn't been included and I have just done it all myself.
Was I unreasonable or is he being unreasonable?

Honestly, I’ve always done it. I may ask DH his opinion/suggestions but generally I buy it all (we do share finances). I enjoy it and have more time on my hands.

And yes, DH is just as surprised as the kids!

I usually come up with a list off Amazon and show my husband and he picks his favourites. Then we normally both buy a few presents each as well, more like impulse purchase while out. I love doing stockings so I’m mostly in charge of those . No formal rules or budget .

Good grief it's still November our kids don't even know what they want themselves yet or made a list.

We generally both get a few ideas together each.

Have people really already ordered it all? Where is the fun in that? Mind you there'll be people along in a second saying they've wrapped it all as well 🤣

Apart from stockings, I'm all bought.

All online this year.

Started wrapping last night.

I'm super excited this year for some reason 😂

We've been known to not get anything done until the 22nd before.

This feels less stressy

well one of us usually says - dc 1 wants xx. Then we go - are you going to order it or me? Dh usually does all the online stuff, and also finds deals on electronics

Then I go shopping and get all the bits and bobs and stockings.

We don;t care who gets what, as long as they get bought.

I do all present shopping in our house (incl my own! I know what I want and we share finances completely so it's just easier for everyone), I just tell him what we've got them! Occasionally I will consult him beforehand, usually with a choice of 2-3 to get his opinion on what he thinks they'll like best.

Christmas and gift giving becomes a huge hyperfocus for me from about mid September/beginning of October and he knows it makes me happy (and I'm good at it), so he leaves me to it. The only exception is with computer tech where he knows what the specs mean!

We talk about it. They write to Father Christmas (or leave a list lying around theses days). There are standard items they traditionally get which they can suggest a specific version of (Boots or luxury shoes being one item and a piece of jewellery being another).
Then my husband buys everything on the ‘main presents’ list and I do stocking presents.
Done it like that for years.
