NHS appointments

I was seen as an emergency at hospital last week and was told I need a follow up appointment at a clinic in 7 days. I asked how I would make the appointment (eg would I call a number) and they said I would probably get a letter or a phone call with the appointment details. That was nearly 7 days ago now and I haven’t received anything yet so just feeling slightly worried.

im still waiting for the post to come today so hopefully it will be in that, but if not, does anyone know what I should do? I don’t have any contact numbers or details. I’ve never had a situation like this before where I need to go back to hospital so quickly, has anyone else experienced this and know whether it’s normal to get a phone call or letter today and if it will likely be an appointment tomorrow?

Phone switchboard and ask to be put through to the department who saw you last week and explain

PearlclutchersInc · 29/11/2022 12:50

Call the hospital and ask for the clinic you're to be referred to, or if you know which consultant you're to see ask to be xferred to his secretary.

You could call your surgery to see if they have got the hospital report

FatCatSkinnyRat · 29/11/2022 12:50

Yes, don't forget Royal Mail have been on strike so your letter may be a little delayed.

Could you call the hospital switchboard and ask to speak to a consultant’s secretary in the relevant department? For instance, if perhaps it’s haematology, ask to speak to a haematology secretary.

If I have to change a clinic appointment for my son I have to speak to one of the department secretaries to rebook.

Do you know what speciality it was for? If so just call the central booking department who booked the appointment and they can tell you

Likely delayed by postal strikes. Worth a call just to check it has not gone astray though.

perhaps they will call you today?
