Good luck OP. I've read about many people who experience this and surgery puts them right. I've had spinal surgery myself and know how scary it is. There are some amazing surgeons out there. Thinking of you.

I has CES in 2006, everything is fine now.

The fact that you are in pain is a good thing. Worry if the pain suddenly stops.

You'll be fine. Try not to worry. I was up and walking within days of my emergency surgery

Pseudonymminymie · 28/11/2022 22:19

A friend of my DM had this ( in his 70s). He also had to be transferred to a specialist unit for surgery. He is now completely fine. This is awful for you now OP. All I can say is try to project yourself. In a week or two, you'll be fine and back home. Xx

Yes, I developed this 4 years ago post spinal surgery, everything is fine now.

Yes, I had Cauda Equina syndrome as a result of a large spinal tumour when I was in my 20s. I had surgery to remove the lesion and all symptoms of the Cauda Equina resolved over time (and I had the added issue of damage caused by surgery). Took a while for bladder function to come back. And I still have a numb patch on the back of one leg, but that's it.

I hope you get through the next few hours and wake up in recovery with someone telling you all went well.
I've not been through this particular scenario, but can totally understand why you're scared. Next time you see the staff, tell them!
Best of luck. Flowers

Thank you for your kind words and reassurance I feel much better. Waiting on an emergency ambulance 12 hours but I personally know how bad wait times are nhs A&E worker
