To think my parcel will be delivered

... eventually. I was returning a dress and booked a Royal Mail collection. Ill DC meant I couldn't get into the office today, so I had the bright idea of using the local parcel box. Just as I'd posted it, I realised that I hadn't put a label on it 🤦‍♀️ I'd written the collection ref, payment ref and my name on the box and the returns note is inside, so I think it might have a chance of getting there.

Chances of me being right?

DH is optimistic. He's pointed out that people send leaves with walking directions through the post and even they get delivered.

I've just had the genius idea of posting the label into the same parcel box with a begging note for the postie to reunite the two. Off to post it now!

Please keep us updated, I'm on tenterhooks. I want to know what leaves with walking directions are.

Will do! I'm hoping the begging, description, matching parcel tape and a modest tip will get them matched up.

I can’t see this taking priority in all the chaos of Royal Mail on strike in the run up to Christmas. But you never know.

The people in the sorting office were really helpful when I accidentally posted a bunch of random but important papers. That was about 15 years ago but hopefully they'll still help out an apologetic customer.

It might get there, it might not. The policy changed a few years ago, previously it was the case that undeliverable items would routinely be opened to look for a return address, but that changed and it's more common for things to just be disposed of now. It's luck really, you might get a nice worker in a good mood who wants to be helpful, then again...

Next time just go to postbox at next collection time and ask the postman personally to allow you to put the label on.

IT HAS ARRIVED! I didn't get any delivery notifications but the seller sent me a refund today so it must have got there yesterday. Thankyou postwo/man!
