I'll go first wasabi

OP posts:

Olives. Love them now but it took me over 20 years.

Swissnotswiss · 27/11/2022 20:09

Avocados - although I haven't acquired it yet. 😖

Bubblemonkey · 27/11/2022 20:09

Avocado. Tastes like what I imagine churned up mud would taste like 😂

TastesLikeFlavourlessFizz · 27/11/2022 20:13

I never had to acquire a taste for wasabi but avocado - which I love now - was another one that took me 20-odd years.

Weird, isn’t it?!

LuciferRising · 27/11/2022 20:14

Capers?

mamabear715 · 27/11/2022 20:15

Blue cheese..

greenerfingers · 27/11/2022 20:15

Avocado, olives, pumpkin, raw tomatoes in salad

rosesandferns · 27/11/2022 20:15

Loved everything mentioned so far at first taste, but for me it was coffee, and also seafood (not other fish).

Bobbybobbins · 27/11/2022 20:16

Agree with all of those above - like them all now but it's been a journey with all of them!

Malabarhouse · 27/11/2022 20:16

Oysters

JudgeJ · 27/11/2022 20:17

Yoghurt, been trying since the 1960s, Ski then, and still don't like them, more recently hummous but that's a thing with me and chick peas and also smelly cheeses, revolting.

naemates · 27/11/2022 20:17

Coffee, beer and sparkling water.

I never succeeded with wine

PollyPaintsFlowers · 27/11/2022 20:18

Avocado and blue cheese that isn't part of a soup or sauce

Took me to adulthood to appreciate aubergines, mushrooms and olives. Can't get enough of them now though

HippeePrincess · 27/11/2022 20:18

Olives, only liked them for the first time abroad and I’m still very picking with them.

ISeeTrees · 27/11/2022 20:26

I immediately thought olives, but I see they've been mentioned a few times. I will add:
Salmon- still don't like it but it's becoming tolerable.
Cucumber- took a while but love it now.
Melon- no.
Kiwi- no.
Oysters are probably no, but I confess I haven't actually tried them.

ODFOx · 27/11/2022 20:30

Spinach. When I was a child is was a muddy, gritty puddle. Now I eat it most days because it goes with everything. My DC always loved it from when they were tiny. They taught me to love it!

greenerfingers · 27/11/2022 20:30

@ISeeTrees cucumber?? That's the first I've heard of it being acquired. Interesting! Agree about melon especially honey melon and salmon too, although I love it now

Raveon2000 · 27/11/2022 20:32

85% dark chocolate
Eat it when doing keto and have got used to it now

Crikeyalmighty · 27/11/2022 20:34

Watermelon- hate the texture
Parsnips
Anything with truffle in it -that isn't chocolate -- to me tastes like sick

GettingStuffed · 27/11/2022 20:40

Red wine, I'd been drinking white wine at home for years but I was mid 20s before I'd drink red voluntarily, and early 20s if it was given to me

msbevvy · 27/11/2022 20:43

Brussels sprouts. Hated them until I was pregnant with my first. I then started eating them day and night. I still love them, especially the ones that they sell with Marmite butter.

Whichwhatnow · 27/11/2022 20:52

I don't think I'd ever tried pickled food until I met my Polish ex. Now I love (nearly) all of it - sauerkraut, pickled peppers, gherkins, pickled onions, jalapeños, pickled herring...

Pickled eggs can do one though 😆

dropthevipers · 27/11/2022 20:53

Liver. Mum, wo was a good cook otherwise always turned it into burnt cork, school dinners like wise. Thirty years later saw it on a restaurant menu and tried out of curiosity. Bloody lovely.

Wetblanket78 · 27/11/2022 20:54

Avacados me and my daughter love them son refuses to have it past his lips. Even though he loves every other fruit and veg.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 27/11/2022 20:56

Goat's cheese, smoked cheese

I love many cheeses, but not smoked or goat's
