Delivery photos

I won't mention the courier company but very well known. Took a look at one of my delivery notifications from a few days ago and I found the photo quite obtrusive. Although my face wasn't in it captured half of me by the door and some part of my living room in the background. I didn't even realise the photo was taken.

The previous (regular) delivery man would take a snap of the parcel with the door ajar and usually asks me before doing so and I had no issues with that at all.

AIBU to make a complaint ?

I think that would be petty. Your face isn't in it, presumably you're appropriately dressed and very little of your home sounds visible. They are under such pressure from people expecting fast deliveries that they can't stop and arrange every photo. It doesn't sound inappropriate to me.

Keyansier · 27/11/2022 16:36

I think it should have been your responsibility to verify and check the photo before he left so for that part YABU. But it does sound like it could breach an invasion of privacy, I would not be pleased at all. I would take tonight to think about it and then decide after you've calmed down, as the driver could potentially lose their job if you complain.

Sirzy · 27/11/2022 16:37

Doesn’t sound like there are any identifiable details in it. If the photo isn’t clear where it is it becomes pointless anyway.

LIZS · 27/11/2022 16:38

They have to capture something identifying, otherwise people claim for non delivery. Noone is going to see it publicly if correctly delivered.

SwingandaPrayer · 27/11/2022 16:40

I wouldn't even give it the slightest moment's thought. The photo is not published anywhere, it's just used within the company to prove the parcel was delivered. It was delivered and you have it so the photo is irrelevant. Sounds like you're nitpicking a bit.

Eastereggs1 · 27/11/2022 16:41

It’s a non issue, I think a complaint would be pointless.

Clymene · 27/11/2022 16:44

That's how they can prove they delivered the parcel to you. Why on earth does this bother you?

Oysterbabe · 27/11/2022 16:45

Making a complaint would be completely ridiculous.

Panpastels · 27/11/2022 16:47

What outcome would you want from a complaint? The photo is only held for proof of delivery. I doubt it's kept very long .

Butterlover1 · 27/11/2022 17:02

I was thinking this was going to be

"stupid DH too a photo of my business end during delivery of our newborn and in his excitement has posted it on the family whatsapp, I'm beyond mortified!"

I think you're being oversensitive and complaining would be petty and unnecessary

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 27/11/2022 17:03

Hmmm... your daughter wasn't in the photo by any chance?

userxx · 27/11/2022 17:05

I had a one taken of my foot, luckily the courier realised how hideous it was and blanked it out.

bsgxjendj · 27/11/2022 17:10

Thanks all. I agree it's ridiculous to make a complaint, to be honest, it's why I haven't done it.

I was just a bit pissed that I was unaware when the photo was taken. I won't have the door so wide open next time

Of course you're being unreasonable. Hope this helps.
