To think that Sunday is the most depressing day?

I've never been a fan of Sundays, not even in childhood. Now that I'm an adult, I just can't see past all the chores that need doing and the blues of having work the next day.
I love Fridays and Saturdays, but can't seem to reframe the negative association I have with Sundays.

Just me? Grin

Yep I love Sundays- get your chores done on the week and you can spend Sundays relaxing 😌

Testina · 27/11/2022 15:02

Then just do your chores on Fri & Sat?

notnowB · 27/11/2022 15:05

I'm a single parent and the chores never stop really, in particular the laundry. I just seem to spend the day feeling rather tense. I am changing job after Christmas though, so I'm hopeful that this will help a bit Smile

The trick to Sundays is getting out. We’ve been for a nice walk and are now in the pub.

Brideintheheadlights · 27/11/2022 15:07

No. Monday is by far the most depressing day of the week. I literally despise Monday.

TheSausageKingofChicago · 27/11/2022 15:09

I love Sundays. I’m lounging round on the sofa listening to Desert Island Discs with the cat.
Don’t get me started on Tuesdays though.

HereLiesBetelgeuse · 27/11/2022 15:11

Tuesdays are the worst days

QforCucumber · 27/11/2022 15:13

I also love Sundays, up at 7:30 ish and everything done on the morning. Then from 4pm can usually just wind down and sit, we ensure Sundays are a relaxed affair

elQuintoConyo · 27/11/2022 15:14

I do a load or two of washing and get it into the sun, whizz round with the hoover and then go meet a friend for a vermouth, with my dog. Kids run about, we sit in the sun, quick chats with people we know, bowl of olives to share (2 vermouths and a bowl of olives €5).

Home by about 2 for long lazy lunch. Then homework, ironing and preparing for the week, dinner on the sofa with a film and bed.

Mondays suck cock. Thursdays feel three weeks long. But Sunday is nice. Plus all the shops are shut, so you can't get stuck in a queue for groceries even if you wanted to.

KimberleyClark · 27/11/2022 15:17

I love Sundays now I am retired 😎. I agree with whoever said Tuesday is the worst day of the working week though. On Mondays there always seemed to be a feel good feeling left over from the weekend

PuddyR79 · 27/11/2022 15:19

Sunday is my favourite day, I get most of the chores done before Sunday comes around so I can enjoy my Sundays. I hate Mondays.

OoooohMatron · 27/11/2022 15:21

I'm not a fan either.

Knittingnanny2 · 27/11/2022 15:21

I hated Sundays until I was 60+. As a child I hated it as was forced to go to Sunday school, as a teenager doing homework, as a parent/teacher doing housework, school prep, endless ferrying around for football games etc.
Now I’m retired I like it a little bit more but have made sure I don’t do one thing which could be likened to a chore!
We don’t even have “Sunday roast” on a Sunday as it brings back memories of miserable days!

So funny, every time I see posters blathering on about a roast dinner it reminds me of that Sunday depression when I lived in Ireland and the UK.

purplewolfie · 27/11/2022 15:27

I think liking your job makes a big difference. I enjoy my job so I don't spend sundays dreading my return.

Sarahcoggles · 27/11/2022 15:28

I felt the same OP, until a couple of months ago when I changed my hours, and now I have Mondays off. Sundays are now the precursor to my lovely free day! Dispatching the kids to school on a Monday morning is now a high point of my week!

WaddleAway · 27/11/2022 15:33

Sundays are the only day we all have no work/hobbies etc and therefore can spend the whole day together, so I love them. We’ve been ice skating and out for lunch today. I do most chores/cleaning etc as I go along (a bit every day) so there isn’t anything ‘extra’ to do on a Sunday.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 27/11/2022 15:35

Get the kids to help, in an age appropriate way? It's a household everyone-chips-in job, not a mum-does-it-all job.

SallyWD · 27/11/2022 15:38

I love Sundays. Very restful day (although I do do chores).

notnowB · 27/11/2022 15:40

Argh, I hate the quiet Sunday feeling though. If ever I were to move abroad, I'd need to live somewhere with Sunday/holiday bustle and not the feeling that everything has ground to a halt because it's Sunday. It literally couldn't feel like Sunday or I'd feel depressed.

I know, I know, Freud would have had a field day Grin

I hate Wednesdays....too far away from the previous weekend to still feel "rested", not close enough to the next to start winding down.

Coasterfan · 27/11/2022 16:07

I have left DH at home with the chores and am at s Christmas event with the DC. The trick is to plan something you love on a Sunday then you don’t have time to think about work on Monday!!

notnowB · 27/11/2022 16:07

Aye, we're all different, that's for sure Smile

You're absolutely right I think.

Sundays are spoilt by the thought of having to go back to work on Mondays 😕
