AIBU to think they are staffed by 18 years old boys, not proper journalists and they need to stop enciting hatred?

Every other article is about someone Only Fans and they post inflammatory shit just to get a reaction.

They've stopped even trying to disguise it as a news article now and are just posting statements.

Immigrants, working mums, parents in general, women, you name it, they'll post something offensive. The comments sections are increasingly worrying too.

It seems there is no sort of regulation on what they are quite openly doing.

Has anyone else noticed this?

They're horrendous. It's all just click bait for advertising.

That's all the newspaper websites

I'm not even convinced that journalism really exists any more.

Yes local reporters will be sent to courts , incidents and local stories but proper John Pilger type journalists are few and far between these days.

So much 'reporting' now is re-hashing a story that has already been posted on social media.

Probably because 'proper' journalism is time-consuming and expensive, but readers don't want to pay for the end product. Especially not when it is available online. As far as I can make out, nobody wants to pay to see anything on the internet unless it involves porn.

The Yorkshire one had a review of a Christmas Market - they went when it was shut and complained nothing was open! 😂

Oh yes, I forgot about all the stories they steal from here. The Mirror is the worst for that.

Local newspapers used to have a solid business model based on selling classified & display advertising. My local paper always had a ‘jobs’ section on Wednesdays, ‘motors’ on Thursdays, ‘what’s on’ on Fridays, property section on Saturdays etc. The internet destroyed that business model, so they needed a new one. Clickbait was what they came up with.
The problem is that clickbait can’t support as many jobs or as much proper journalism as before, which is why local paper websites are now crap and almost unusable because of all the pop-ups, ads covering content etc.
