To breastfeed second baby when I didn’t feed first

That’s it really, anybody done this?

OP posts:
snowbellsxox · 26/11/2022 19:55

I couldn't breastfeed my eldest past four month due to tongue tie and pain, with my second no issues and still feeding at 13 months
It really just depends sometimes

dreamygirl25 · 26/11/2022 19:57

Yes me, it was fine. Def more ready for breastfeeding second time around. And quite nice to be in both sides of the fence when people say if they sleep though or not, or are better off one way or the other. Both mine are exactly the same.

RampantIvy · 26/11/2022 19:57

I am totally baffled why 25% of posters think the OP is unreasonable.

Why?

Zanatdy · 26/11/2022 19:59

Yes, I was very young when I had DS1 - only managed 2 days.

DS2 I fed for 8 months

DD only 4wks as I got a severe case of mastitis / nipple infection and was hospitalised for 5 days for IV antibiotics.

I don’t feel bad for only feeding one, I was very disappointed I didn’t manage to feed DD due to the infection and ongoing pain which would have made it really difficult. But it’s a none issue, boys are now adults

yellowjellytot · 26/11/2022 19:59

I did my 1st and not my 2nd, that's just the way it worked out. Honestly, just do what works for you.

steff13 · 26/11/2022 20:03

My mother formula-fed me and breastfed my brother. It's made no difference whatsoever. 🤷‍♀️

Rainbow28x · 26/11/2022 20:12

I gave up the first day with my first, 5 months in breastfeeding my second. It's lovely, but don't regret bottle feeding the first at all!

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 26/11/2022 20:13

I bottle fed my first and breastfed my second. Loved doing both and haven’t thought twice about it since.

noeyesbarry · 26/11/2022 20:14

Why would that be unreasonable Confused

Idunnowhatsgoingon · 26/11/2022 20:15

My mum did.

FancyANewID · 26/11/2022 20:17

BF Dc1 and Dc2 for a week and then switched to formula.

BF Dc3 until 3 years and 4 months.

Crunchymum · 26/11/2022 20:21

DC1 was bottle fed
DC2 breastfed until she was 2.5
DC3 tube fed with expressed breast milk for 6 months and then we used formula with her NG tube for 6 month (then she was tube free)

babyno2isdue · 26/11/2022 20:25

Ds1 expressed 3 months then ff
Dd1 breastfed from the moment she was born and still going now (11months)

I was more prepared second time and she was more interested than ds

Moraxella · 26/11/2022 20:27

I was thinking of bottle for no 2😌 BF no 1 for 1.5years and all my friends who bottle fed had babies that slept.

Tisfortired · 26/11/2022 20:30

I had DS quite young and although I tried to breastfeed him I felt quite intimidated by it and when I should have just asked for help I was too shy. He was formula fed from about 10 days old and is a very robust healthy hardy kid! 33 weeks with DS2 and really hoping to BF this time and it hadn’t occurred to me to feel guilty about it!

MsChatterbox · 26/11/2022 20:34

Yes I did this! I did sometimes get little pangs of guilt but the majority of the time I didn't really think about it.
