Could this be a dead rodent

We had an issue with rats under the floorboards. We had it dealt with and have not heard anything since. However in the last week there has been an unpleasant smell in our bedroom similar to really old smelly trainers. Could that be a dead rodent?

google says smell is like rotting cabbages, sulphurous and methane.

we had a similar problem … I always likened it to a Gas smell

Ime dead rodents smell a LOT worse than trainers. It's a very distinctive smell.

Yup, this ^. I spent ages scratching my head trying to figure out how I could smell gas when the nearest house with gas was miles away. Turned out it was a dead mouse I could smell.

It might start off something like that but increases over days and weeks to reach a horrendous crescendo. Then will disappear after 4 to 6 weeks. You’ll know soon enough. Good luck if it is!

Dahlietta · 26/11/2022 13:22

I wouldn’t describe it as like trainers, but maybe we’re just smelling it differently!

Smells like gas. Its horrible. Its the flies after the smell has gone that is the worst bit. I can remember coming home from work and my conservatory windows being covered in them.

I think a dying rat is obvious there's no scent like it once you know ow its its awful its like a warm off meat smell and you can even smell it in the particular spot where the rat has died

You need it removing OP.
