Electric bill doubled

Daisy95 · 25/11/2022 20:02

Can I have some help, we've been racking our brains and cannot work it out.
Our electric bill (we submit meter readings every month) has doubled from £98 (we have an electric car, to £200.
We haven't been doing anything different. Our heating is gas, we turn every plug or when not in use apart from fridge/freezer.
We charge our car the same amount per month (infact we've charged it less this month)
We've always sat with our lamp on in living room and don't use any other lights around the rest of the house.
Can anyone think what it could be?!
Thanks in advance

I will definitely do the unplugging and meter watch and plug back in etc.

We do have a power shower but no increase in use as just us two and a toddler who doesn't use the shower.

Do working through my old statements pre car use was roughly 5kwh per day used, meter readings all added on the same day of the month. Looked at last month car charge and that was £79 compared to £65 this month.

Thank you all for your help I really appreciate it

last months reading can’t be right can it? Car cost £79 of £98 so the rest of your electric was £19 or 1.3kwh per day!

We were away for 15 days of that month so thought it was about right but maybe not and maybe there has been some mistake charged and then added onto this bill.

Not sure why you're shocked. Everyone's bill has doubled. Confused

Did you notice how her tariff - the amount she is paying per kWh is the same as last month?

Not everyone's - those on fixed tariffs are on the same rate until the end of the fix.
Ours is fixed until October '23
It sounds low on the if it's including car charging.
Ours is around £100 atm with car charging but we rarely draw any charge at the day rate as we have a battery & solar panels so only use the nighttime rate which we have fixed much lower rate than yours.
