GP surgery appointments

So my dd has had a cough for five weeks now. It started with a cold etc but the cough won't go away. She has been to pharmacy and brought bronco stop and everything else they suggested but it's not shifting. She is not coughing anything up. Lots of friends at school got chest infections, seems to be lots going round this year. Pharmacy say now time to see a doctor.

The only way to get an appointment is to call the surgery at 8am.

When at work neither dp (ft) or I (mon-wed) can do this due to the nature of our jobs and how long you are on hold for. DD is on the bus to college at this time and doesn't feel comfortable making this call on the bus, plus service dipping in and out etc.

I called yesterday, on hold for an hour, no appointments left by the time I got through. Called again today got through after an hour and 2minutes to be told only telephone appointments available. That's fine, I asked what time they would call at and she will arrange to go out of her lesson. They can't give a time apparently could be any time between now and 6 tonight. She can't keep her phone on during lessons, her phone dings every 30 seconds if it's not on silent with some notification or other. However she's not ill enough to stay home for the day in case they can see her. She's in year 13 so doesn't want to miss any lessons.

It's just so difficult to ever get an appointment, luckily we're not an ill family, it's so rare we ever need to go but when we do it's just impossible.
