To feel stressed about this?

The days for the nurses strike have been announced- I have an outpatient appointment that's been 2 years in the making (it's for neurology- I've seen them as inpatient when I needed neurosurgery but haven't been able to see them as an outpatient for a long term plan) on one of the days. While I completely agree that nurses don't get paid enough for what they do- AIBU to also feel stressed about the clinic probably not running?

Call them ask them what is going to happen with your appointment.

Don't stop trying until you get through.

Or try the booking receptionist or the consultant/doctors secretary.

YANBU that is a very stressful situation for you and I hope your appointment doesn't face further extreme delays owing to this (Very justified and I think necessary) stroke action.

Call the department and ask what will happen with your appointment.

Also wrote to your local MP. Strikes are meant to cause disruption unfortunately and while it may seem futile, the more members of the public who kick off about disruption to services (NHS, trains, postal service etc), the more pressure it puts on those in charge to do something.

Wishing you all the best, I hope everything goes well for you.

I work in a hospital as an admin manager and we have been inundated with calls today's about appointments but we have no idea who will strike and who won't it's all up in the air until the day!!

As per corporate instructions, we will be cancelling outpatient appointments those days in our trust as any staff who usually work in clinics who choose not to strike will more than likely be needed on a ward and it's just easier to do this and we will reschedule the patients at a later date. We don't really have a choice otherwise people could turn up and no clinic nurses would be available to see them!

LadyLolaRuben · 25/11/2022 23:24

You'll be rescheduled for an appt ASAP, you won't be put to the back of queue so try not to worry about that

hugznotdrugz · 26/11/2022 16:07

Spoke the consultants secretary- my appointment will definitely be cancelled- and because it has to be within 3-4 weeks of being seen by a different department due to the nature of what's the appointment for its unlikely I'll be seen until March time now.

I'd say it's not unreasonable to be stressed

Beachsidesunset · 26/11/2022 16:15

I'm scheduled to have an operation under GA on the 14th - worried it's going to be cancelled or there'll be no nurses to do obs/catheter care on the 15th!
