Weird insomnia/ light sleep after virus

Hi all,
My family have all recently cared and shared norovirus between us! We are disinfected and over the worst now..
Since I came down with the virus last weekend, I haven’t been able to sleep “properly” according to my sleep tracker I’m having around 3 hours sleep a night

I just wondered if after being Ill anybody else became a ridiculously light sleeper? I’m normally a very deep sleeper but the slightest noise makes me wake up with my heart racing and I would always say with a start/ slightly panicky!

I do wonder it’s if my body is supercharged on alert waiting for the next “Mummm I’m going to be sick”
I've tried meditation, hypnosis (YouTube) white noise but where as my children are sleeping soundly, I’m drifting off and waking up as suddenly 30 mins later startled…

Sorry I know this is probably making no sense I’m blaming it on tiredness, but has anyone else felt like this after a virus? I neeeeed (proper) sleep!

Yes! Me after recent covid bout. In fact it’s why I’m up now. Previously was a very good sleeper!

Yes, totally normal for illness to disrupt your sleep. The best advice I got about temporarily not sleeping well (when you usually do) is to not worry and eventually your body will catch up and sleep. Otherwise worrying about not sleeping keeps you awake even more….

I was utterly thrilled to be up at 3:30am, wide awake. Cheers then cold & cough.

normally sleep very well.
