Sorry, posting for traffic.

I’m £680 in credit to Bulb who have just told me their increasing my payments.
I’ve told them it’s not necessary.
they’re insisting.

What can I do? The amount taken out is dictated by them.

Cancel your direct debit.

They're profiteering arseholes.

I was in £900 credit to Scottish Power, they were taking £193 a month, they've just taken £500 out of my credit saying wasn't paying enough the last 3 months!!

@MichelleScarn had you been getting monthly bills?

@dolor doesn’t that cause all sorts of bad credit problems

Been paying via dd and keeping an eye on the usage via the app so this is a surprise. What's not a surprise is I can't speak to a bloody person to query this!

Swop to another supplier - they will refund you the balance (also in credit at Bulb !)

Flamingogirl08 · 23/11/2022 19:28

I was like this with Bulb, I cancelled my direct debit so they took the credit instead and then just reinstated it when I was happy with the balance

Ilikewinter · 23/11/2022 19:29

Arent bulb customers moving to Octopus?. Id be really tempted to cancel my direct debit amd revert back to quarterly bills.

Flamingogirl08 · 23/11/2022 19:36

Just to add to my point they then offered to set up a direct debit for just my usage, no extra

No probs with Bulb for me - had a credit balance similar to yours a few weeks ago. Lowered my DD online first, then applied for a balance refund of half my balance. The website computer said No, then I emailed with all the reasons why I should be refunded and a Bulb person said Yes. It took a few days overall.

I'm sad Bulb is going - not just for the Renewable Energy focus - but over the years I've found their Online/Website Account Management to be very, very good compared with every other Online Account Management System I've had to use for a wide range of services.

Hopefully Octopus, the new owners of Bulb, won't be wanting to change it and will use the Bulb Online Platform for their existing customers too.

@TheHateIsNotGood thanks, great suggestion. Computer kept saying no to stopping the increase, and I rang them in the end as was getting nowhere with emails, but the guy on the phone had a sense of helplessness about him - he could understand my frustration but couldn’t stop the increase.

because of your suggestion to claim a refund on the credit though I’ve got £350 coming back which makes me less cross.
Thanks!

I too am sad they’re going, as have been great until recently.
