Is this bruise worrying?

Asking for a family member who insists it’s fine. It’s been getting redder and redder, she fell a few days ago. I’m concerned it’s a blood clot

It's just bruising.

Bruises do take a few days to come out properly - it looks like a bog standard bruise to me. It should start to turn yellow very soon.

I'm not a doctor so I can't say 100% but I have a blood condition which means I bruise regularly and badly. This sort of bruise wouldn't concern me, it looks like it was a nasty knock but a bruise often takes a few days to fully "come through" and nothing about this bruise would worry me, it looks normal. Some bruises can go really red and blotchy if the impact was hard and it sounds like it was if it was a fall. Even if a lump comes up under the skin for a day or two, that's normal too. Keep an eye but it should be absolutely fine and go green/yellow soon x

Read up on symptoms of blood clots. And look on line at pictures of bruising and blood clot. It’ll all become clear

Ok thank you. The person’s mum had a stroke previously so that’s why I’m worried but that was age related rather than a condition. This person is younger and in good health so I’m reassured.

I can understand the worry completely, it's a nasty bruise! But I personally think that's all it is. It doesn't mean it won't be sore for a few days though, make sure she takes it easy.

Did she say how she got it? I've had bruising like that from a fall or bouncing off a wall/door handle, but if it's just "appeared" I'd be more concerned. Something that size you should know about it!

It's a bruise

She was walking a friends dog and it pulled her over. Bruise is from impact with a metal bollard. Very nasty.

Arnica gel is very good for speeding bruise healing.
