To find this behaviour unacceptable

My partner worked with a girl who was around 21, last year, in a hospitality environment.
Their manager was a male in his late 20s.

The girl quit suddenly one day and nobody knew why.
My partner bumped into her by chance the other day. He said that she'd told him things that had happened at the place they worked. Apparently the manager (who's my partner's friend) would ask the girl what sex positions she liked and would corner her in their bar sometimes, and ask other inappropriate questions.

I think that's out of order and I feel like if this had happened in a 'professional' environment it would have been dealt with as sexual harassment, and hopefully his dismissal.

I'm sure this isn't uncommon but I imagine the manager thought he could get away with it as it's a more laid back 'matey' environment. This former manager also put his hands on my partner's chest once for no reason.

If a male cornered me in my working environment and asked me what sexual positions I liked he'd be flying out the window.

How I’d have dealt with this as a young female of age 21 is worlds apart from how I’d deal with it now at age 44. That poor girl.

Nice friend your partner’s got there btw. I assume he’ll be ending the friendship now he knows his friend is a letchy creepy sex pest.

Yeah, my partner is disgusted by this and didn't know it had happened. That's why she quit without notice.

Agreed, at 21 I wouldn't have had the confidence to deal with it sadly

Yeah that's shocking, poor woman. I hope she's found somewhere where her colleagues respect her.

Sparklesocks · 19/11/2022 20:32

Awful. And probably part of the reason for the manager being so brazen is taking advantage of her youth and inexperience.

Daria31 · 19/11/2022 20:33

Yeah, sadly. They also had a 58 year old regular say if he were 20 years younger he'd be asking her out 🙄
