Ridiculous sleep issue

I'm on my knees with tiredness. I've had a stinking cold all week which really hasn't helped

I used to find sleep so easy - always a full night but I wake up most night recently and can't get back to sleep because of song words 😭

I have stupid lyrics rattling round my head and I can't switch off. Last night it was a single line from a song I heard on tiktok, on repeat

It feels like it's belting round and round my brain so fast that I can't catch it and can't get back to sleep at all

Some nights it's from 2am until my alarm goes off at 6.30

We're away for the night tonight and I already feel like I've ruined it because I'm so tired

Has anyone experienced this and fixed it??

Thanks everyone. Some really useful things to look into

How do you all listen to podcasts etc when you share a bed?

Headphones?

No screens 3 hours before sleeping and yoga nidra helped me manage chronic insomnia.

When I get this stuck in my head, I count down slowly from 100, starting again every time I make a mistake or get lost. Now I'm usually asleep again by 80 because my brain knows that the backward counting equals sleep.

I get this too from time to time with the songs, it’s absolute torture! I am 41 so maybe peri-related. I find that reading before I go to sleep has really helped, but not entirely as it’s also stress-related for me. Just wanted to say you’re not alone!

Oh, I hate this! The last time I had it, it was an ancient Victoria Wood song over and over again in its entirety - it was exhausting and I have no idea where my brain dredged it up from! Going for a wee sometimes helps to 'reset' me enough that I can get to sleep.
