My baby is 7 months old and suffers from CMPA.
I think he has a very sensitive gag reflex too.
He's got a really bad cold at the moment. His nose is streaming, he's very congested.
After he has his milk feeds, he starts gagging and projectile vomits pretty much his entire feed. It's quite scary because during the gagging / vomiting attacks, he can't catch his breath because he's so congested and vomit is coming out of his mouth, so he can't breathe through his mouth or nose.
It's horrible to see. I've been giving him smaller feeds and it's been OK during the day, but he chugged a little bit more this evening and it's happened again.
Has anyone ever had this happen ? What else can I do ? It's scary.
I'm doing all the usual, steam, Calpol plug in, saline drops, sucking out the snot etc.
I think the snot and the reflux together are triggering his gag reflex and making him vomit. The GP agreed this morning and said just to give smaller feeds.
