Did you get your old body back after pregnancy?

My wedding was this time last year - we looked through our wedding pics last night and I feel like I look like a different person.

Currently pregnant and feeling so hefty (still have 3 months to go).

I know it won’t be immediately and I will have to work hard but I just want to feel comfortable and confident in my own skin again and get back into exercise. Have a low placenta so all I can do atm is walk.

Yes, all 3 times after less than a week it just went back to normal. I was very lucky.

addictedtotheflats · 15/11/2022 22:24

Ive only got one, and my body is pretty much as pre pregnancy, my boobs are saggier though, didnt get any lose skin but my thighs definitely jiggle a bit more. Vag not sure, never looked at it since the episiotomy hell but it functions fine 🤣

autumnleavesontheground · 15/11/2022 22:24

Nope, years down the line and never the same since. Wouldn’t change it though.

PeppermintyPatty · 15/11/2022 22:29

Like most people on this thread after my first baby I had got back into some of my pre pregnancy clothes by about a year post partum. After my second child that hasn’t really happened (he’s 6!). I was doing better before covid and then gained the seemingly obligatory 5kg from wfh and homeschool and not having any time. I’ve lost most of that again in the last few months and have been back at the gym and am in the process of toning up. I’m pretty sure that naked I will always look like I’ve had two kids (baggy skin, wider hips and ribs) but I’m actually comfortable in my body for the first time since pregnancy at the moment.

Epli · 15/11/2022 22:36

I am 36, gave birth 7 months ago and I weight 3-4 pounds less than before getting pregnant. I lost postpartum belly in a matter of weeks. However I’ve always been very active and when pregnant I did indoor cycling until 3 weeks before and long walks and yoga until a day before I gave birth. After the delivery I bought Audible and spend hours walking with the baby and listening to crime novels, and got back to running and weights ~7 weeks after.

Leothebear · 15/11/2022 22:40

Yes - and easily- after the first pregancy

After the second pregnancy instead...🤣

KitchenSupper · 15/11/2022 22:44

Exactly the same except for my feet, which are bigger by a half size. Zero exercise or work done.
Wasn’t anything to write home about before but grateful to not be any worse.

ReallyLazySusan · 15/11/2022 22:48

No.
I have two children and gained 4 stone during each pregnancy.
The extra weight did come off and after about a year I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight both times.
I didn’t breastfeed and my boobs pretty much look the same as before. I carried both of mine really low so my rib cage didn’t change shape but my pelvis is wider.
I can’t use tampons any more, they’re no longer comfortable and thongs irritate my episiotomy scar.
I have stretch marks on my stomach and the skin is pretty loose and wrinkly.

Baconand · 15/11/2022 22:48

Yes. I was actually 5kg lighter than pre pregnancy within a few weeks of birth. No stretch marks, no damage.
The only thing that has changed are my nipples-even my boobs are almost the same (bit bigger and softer but still perky) after 26 months of BF.

I was 41 when I had DD and I didn’t find pregnancy hard at all though, my body seemed to like it and I feel it did me the world of good. I was also lucky to get away with a short labour and straightforward vaginal birth with nothing broken so I was bouncing about straightaway. Friends who had more traumatic experiences definitely struggled as they were so sore (CS and VB).

I credit my horse, decades of riding makes you ridiculously strong in unexpected places! 😂

Leumurshavethumbs · 15/11/2022 22:50

Yes! Then I lost it to biscuits and cake.

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 15/11/2022 21:37

Similar weight but tummy is more flabby. You can't exercise away over-stretched skin

Totally this. Bounced back pretty well after the first one. The second, the skin on my tummy will never the same, no matter how decent my abs are.

chickeningonup · 15/11/2022 22:52

I'm thinner now than ever - size 8

Breastfed both ginormous babies for 18 months

2 x section so I'm scarred and stretchmarked

Tits are fucked

Rib cage is also fucked

Clothes hide everything 🤣

TheTeddyBears · 15/11/2022 22:53

I don't think you ever go back to exactly how you were before. Maybe close but never quite the same. I was size 6-8 pre baby. 30F bust and very toned tummy.

After first baby I was still size 6-8 and almost half a stone lighter than before by time I was pregnant with number 2. Boobs weren't as big 🙁 I'd lost almost a cup size. No stretch marks 👍

After number 2 I got back down to around 8 stone. It crept back up a little and has settled at a few pounds more so now I'm more a solid size 8 occasional size 10 on the bottom. Boobs lost volume at the top so I'm now more a 30DD or 30E. Tummy still looks a bit toned but not like what it was and I've had 2 sections so there is this little bump that I hate but can't be seen with bikini or pants on. Still no stretch marks 😃

I imagine with more babies it only gets harder to get it back!

Tannedandfake · 15/11/2022 22:53

After the first, definitely! 2nd was similar. Tho the 3rd took me more time to shift the weight

Puppyseahorse · 15/11/2022 22:53

Yes! Was so surprised. Took a year and dieting. But I have only had 1 baby.

NeedAChangeAsIAmSoooOuting · 15/11/2022 22:56

As a teen mum, yes I bounced back. Absolutely no chance in hell now I'm mid 30s.

roarfeckingroarr · 15/11/2022 23:07

Yes, in about three weeks.

Pregnant with number 2 and I don't think
I'll be quite so lucky again,

Summerfun54321 · 15/11/2022 23:08

I love my kids and my extra tummy pouch, rounder thighs and bigger feet. I wouldn’t change any of it.

Louisa259 · 15/11/2022 23:08

2 kids and yes. Some hard work some good luck I guess.

libraryday · 15/11/2022 23:14

Schlaar · 15/11/2022 21:47

I experienced permanent damage. I weigh less but my clothes don’t fit because my rib cage is wider. My stomach is completely numb and has no sensation at all, and it’s stretched beyond all repair. The rest of my body looks fine but then I have this apron of skin on the front. I had to get rid of all mirrors in the house and nobody is allowed to see me without clothes, I don’t even look at myself.

@Schlaar
I'm sorry you feel like this. I felt similar after my babies and although I don't want to wear a bikini I tried to tell myself daily that I was proud of my body, it had grown 2 healthy babies and it is healthy. My youngest is nearly 12 and it took until she was about 8 before I started believing it. I used to cry about how different it looked, how damaged it was (inside and out) and I also avoided mirrors for years.
I hope you will also feel better about the changes. You grew a person (possibly more than 1) and that is hard!!

MintJulia · 15/11/2022 23:17

Yes, I'm back to my old shape. No problems there BUT I only have one DC.

According to dsis & dfriends, it is the second baby that does the irreparable damage to shape.

Cameleongirl · 15/11/2022 23:25

Weight-wise, yes, I enjoy exercising though so that helps. Tummy definitely softer and abit saggy - I had large babies and carried it all out front so that was bound to have an effect.

The most annoying thing was my chest size. I was a solid B cup pre-pregnancy, but bf seemed to burn up some of the fat deposits in my boobs, so I'd describe myself as A-plus now - not as small as an A cup, but not the B I used to be. They haven't sagged much, thank goodness...probably because there isn't much to sag.😂

Namechanger355 · 15/11/2022 23:32

Found it hard to exercise after birth but started doing some about a year in - and got to the point where I looked good in clothes post baby - fitted my pre pregnancy size clothes and had slender arms, waist and legs again- but my ribs and hips had widened and my breasts were saggier so I needed a good bra.

but in a bikini my body will never be the same again - I didn’t think my skin was irreversibly stretching when I was actually pregnant - but it was. There is so much loose skin (and stretch marks) that it won’t ever look the same without clothes - I got a bit shocked when looking at my body naked for quite a while post pregnancy

But I’m over it now and it’s worth it

LesOliviers · 15/11/2022 23:34

No.

I had a c-section and I'm lucky not to have pouch but my stomach is no where near flat anymore. Also my ribs have widened, so I look broader, particularly from behind. I have no waist to speak of, i'm not overweight, but I have a very straight up, straight down physique nowadays.

It doesn't thrill me but I'm over it. At least I've got my lovely little girl, so it's worth the trade off.

IneedcoffeeinanIV · 15/11/2022 23:38

First time round I got back to my pre pregnancy weight after about a year or so. This time round, I've gained since. DD is only 4 months old now though so plenty of time to get back to my old self (I pray)
