Did you get your old body back after pregnancy?

My wedding was this time last year - we looked through our wedding pics last night and I feel like I look like a different person.

Currently pregnant and feeling so hefty (still have 3 months to go).

I know it won’t be immediately and I will have to work hard but I just want to feel comfortable and confident in my own skin again and get back into exercise. Have a low placenta so all I can do atm is walk.

Tiny differences but it's OK really, csection then BF for 18 months and always been prone to stretch marks but got away very lightly, no loose skin, no stretch marks, boobs look fine. Totally down to luck as I've never eaten so much toast

BigFatLiar · 15/11/2022 21:50

More or less. No problem in the boob department as I never really had much. As for the rest it sort of came back a bit less firm maybe a few more bumps but no complaints from OH.
I think time has taken more of a toll than pregnancy.

LouLou198 · 15/11/2022 21:52

No. C section pouch x 2, deflated breasts and never got into my pre pregnancy bras as my ribcage never got back to its normal size.

MadameDe · 15/11/2022 21:54

My body has done the opposite of what usually happens. Before kids, I was really curvy. After having babies I lost the weight from everywhere. I think it's a reflection of my lifestyle though - late nights, cigarette smoking, alcohol fuelled evenings versus no cigarettes or alcohol. My kids were my kick up the backside to sort myself out.

Setyoufree · 15/11/2022 21:55

Yep, it's taken me 10 years but I look way better now than I did before kids. My boobs now resemble spaniels ears but other than that, all good. I didn't look after myself brilliantly pre kids and now I'm more careful although like food and sweets way too much

Herejustforthisone · 15/11/2022 21:56

Yeah, pretty much instantly. But, I was very fortunate to be able to maintain the intensity of exercise I’d done before pregnancy right up to the day before I gave birth, have a long torso which coped with a bump well, and wore a Belly Bandit the second I was home from the hospital. I had a ELCS birth.

BabyShaark · 15/11/2022 21:56

Yes, pretty much. I seem to have good skin though. No stretch marks and no loose skin, despite the fact that I had dd at 41. Don’t think rib cage or hips have changed, but I’ve always had a rather masculine build, also I’m almost 6ft, so baby had enough space. No saggy boobs at all, but they’d been fake to start with 🤣

MuchTooTired · 15/11/2022 21:57

Hahahahaha, no! I was never a skinny girl, but my skin had elasticity. Courtesy of my twin pregnancy, (and my getting bigger than Violet Beauregarde) my stomach is a saggy over stretched mess with a spare handbag at the bottom. My feet are also a size larger, I’m covered in stretch marks, and a whole bunch of hair fell out for months and months afterwards.

On the plus side (apart from my beautiful kids) I’ve gained mega amounts of confidence and really don’t care (most of the time!) that I’ve not gone back to how I was.

TheBirdintheCave · 15/11/2022 21:58

My ribcage broadened during pregnancy and didn't return to how it was so all of my vintage dresses had to be sold :( My waist isn't too bad though (27 inches vs 25) and I'm not genetically predisposed to stretch marks. All in all I'm ok with where I am two years on.

Donna1001 · 15/11/2022 21:59

Breastfeeding.

still has a bit of a tummy but the weight just fell off me.

ARoastPotato · 15/11/2022 22:00

Only one baby, but yes-ish. i gained 3 stone when pregnant, by 9 months post partum I’d squeezed into my old jeans and by 12 months all my old clothes fit as usual. I’d actually say my stomach is more toned these days, I have ab lines now but I think that’s because I did a lot of core exercises for diastasis recti. I think it helps that I’ve always been naturally thin. My boobs are definitely deflated now though, a good push up bra is my friend! I’m lucky I have no c section pouch.

I watched what I ate, walked with the pram 1.5 hours a day and did Pilates videos on YouTube. I still walk every day but not usually that long as these days baby wants to walk everywhere so I’d be lucky to walk half a mile in 1.5 hours! I do Pilates 4x a week too.

hban · 15/11/2022 22:00

First baby yes. With no effort. I was young and I think this helped.
second no- he was massive, my body stretched so much and life was so full on I didn’t try or really care.
third- with a lot of effort and dieting and gymming I’m closer to pre pregnancy again.

Dontaskdontget · 15/11/2022 22:01

Nope!

You can be thin again, you can be fit, even mega-fit, again. But you won’t be the same. My ribcage is about 2 inches wider and I have a tummy pouch.

Crackof · 15/11/2022 22:01

My old body was like a bouncy castle, and hell yeah I got it back 😂

2tired2careanymore · 15/11/2022 22:02

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 No

But when I was 37 weeks pregnant with DS2 I had Bells Palsy and thought I would be permanently disfigured. So to be where I am currently is better than I was back then!

The good news is that you don't really have the energy to care much.

TheOrigRights · 15/11/2022 22:02

2 kids and nothing more than a bit of corrugated skin on my lower belly.
That's all anyone can tell though obv of course it's not the same inside.

BarbiesDreamHouse · 15/11/2022 22:03

Yes almost immediately back to size 6/8 and 8.5 stone but I think being 25 had more to do with that than any particularly hard work on my part.

But if you are disciplined and you care about it then you can and you will get your figure back at any age I think, often it’s just that priorities change after having children and that’s fine too.

Twizbe · 15/11/2022 22:04

I was a whale when I was pregnant. I had 9lb babies and could barely move near the end of pregnancy. I was breastfeeding so no crash diets for me either.

Tbh, it took about 9 months to get back to my usual size.

However, I'm now almost 4 years from my last baby and my body has never looked better (ok I have stretch marks and some sag) but I've lost loads of weight recently and feeling so much better about my body .

hamstersarse · 15/11/2022 22:09

I think pregnancy affected my body much less than age!

Im slimmer now that when I was 30 but ageing skin is a bummer. Much worse than pregnancy effects

PinkPlantCase · 15/11/2022 22:12

Breastfeeding has made me lighter than my pre baby weight and I was a size 8/10 before.

My rib cage is on the whole a bit wider and maybe my hips too. Can’t comment too much in the boobs as I’m still breastfeeding but 18 months on my body is back to how it was. No stretch marks, my boobs at one point were covered in them but they’ve gone down now.

And I really was huge when pregnant, lots of ‘are you sure it isn’t twins’ and extra scans because I measured big. Turned out the placenta was just massive.

I have no idea what my body will do after baby no. 2 though. We’ll have to wait and see!

luxxlisbon · 15/11/2022 22:13

Personally I did. So many people really go on about how your body changes forever, your hips never go back, your bones never go back etc.
I can’t say there’s a noticeable difference in my body pre and post pregnancy, I’m taking a year after though not the immediate months obviously. My stomach might be slightly softer but it would have been softer pre baby if I hadn’t stepped foot in a gym in a year too so that’s not so much pregnancy as just being tired and lazy.
I’ve only had one child so I don’t know if that plays a role.

Kidsx6 · 15/11/2022 22:13

I had an emergency section with twins and was back in size 10 and heels before they were even discharged. I was 21. Same for my next 2 at 23.Had my last at 32 and am now size 14 with everything sagging awfully. Age is a huge factor I think.
Its never bothered me at all. Kids are worth it!

NCFT0922 · 15/11/2022 22:17

Start light exercise and eating well now OP, it’ll make it easier after baby arrives.
I had baby number 4 earlier this year and I’m back to my normal weight. I do keep exercising through my pregnancies and I eat as well as I can with the occasional treat but I’ve never put pressure on myself. My boobs are not the same after breastfeeding 4 children but fully expected that. I’ve had 4 csections and whilst my stomach isn’t completely flat, I don’t have a “pouch” which I feel quite lucky for as I’ve read this is quite common.

megletthesecond · 15/11/2022 22:19

Yes, pretty much. Feet went up a size and rib cage is a bit bigger though.

AnyFucker · 15/11/2022 22:20

Yes, but it took about 2 years each time
